Rock Your Camera is a game changer for kids and their photography. The knowledge and confidence they walk away with after taking this class is what sets them up for experimenting and playing with photography going forward. By the end of the class they learn how aperture, ISO and shutter speed impact exposure. And they start taking control over how their images are going to look. There is still room in our afternoon ROCK YOUR CAMERA course this week! With many Canadian school closing for the week, I thought this would be a way for kids to keep engaged during their extra week off! From Tuesday to Friday from 1 - 2:15pm each of those days. They'll start taking control of their camera and making the decisions on what their photos are going to look like. With the announcement of schools closing for an additional week, I put together some classes that may help with keeping kids engaged that week. We just finished up our last class of the Rock Your Camera course. We had a great group with kids from Ohio, Pennsylvania, Alberta and Ontario! This young photographer did a fabulous job with her intentional camera movement that they experimented with in our shutter speed section. Any guesses what she was taking a picture of? Our next Rock Your Camera course starts on January 12th. Our next ROCK YOUR CAMERA course is scheduled for Tuesdays at 4:30 MST starting on April 27th! This is an online, interactive course for kids wanting to learn more about those different settings on their camera! After this class, they'll know about aperture and depth of field, shutter speed and motion and how ISO can help their exposures. They'll be comfortable in aperture priority mode, shutter speed priority mode and manual mode. And plus we talk about taking pictures us...ing all different directions of light. This class will get them learning, experimenting and moving!! We just finished our Photo Framing Fun class with 5 - 8 year olds this week. Our 30 minute classes were full of lots of energy, play and discovery! "Janet packed the course with fun and skill learning. The concepts were presented in a way kids could understand and remember. In a total of 3 hours the kids have become way better at taking good, interesting photos." I held my first Scouts photography workshop yesterday! I taught eleven 9-10 year old Girl Scouts from Doylestown, Pennsylvania and we had so, so much fun together!! The two hours seriously just flew by. They were engaged and interested and they came back with... seriously... AWESOME images!!! They were so excited to turn their phones around and show everyone their creations and I was equally excited to see what they would show me. What an energizing session!!! Their lea...der said "I think your class today was phenomenal. Truly." After such a great experience, if you know of a troop or other organization who would like to bring photography into one of their meetings, let me know!!! I can do these online, so doesn't have to be Calgary groups.
