Community Alert - It has came to our attention (again) that a group was going door to door asking for peoples empties in Silverado Community Association Thursda...y evening. This group was stating they were with our KidSport Recycling Program. Please know this is NOT us. Unfortunately this has happened multiple times now over the last couple years with KidSport Calgary and is very disappointing to see this happening now with our recycling program too. We are not going door to door, with the current pandemic we do not believe this to be a safe practice or fair to our community. Our pick ups are done via text message (403-680-8776) and contactless pick up on your scheduled day to keep our team and our generous customers safe. If we were to come to your door in the future it would only be to share information about the program to see if you would consider signing up. We would never ask you to make the decision on the spot or donate your empties on the spot. When you hand over your empties you are handing over a form of cash and these groups are well aware of that. Please be sure you are comfortable with anyone asking for money or anything of value (your empties) when coming to your door. There seems to be more and more of this happening so please be cautious, ask lots of questions and ask for a website, employee id, person’s name, contact info to follow up on your own time. Please share and help us protect each other and programs like ours. Let your friends know and share with your community association your concerns as they can relay these to their local CPS contact. We are saddened to hear -once again that there is a company posing as KidSport going door to door collecting refundables. They have NO ID and say they are volunteers We Do Not go door to door! Our complaints have come from the SE community of Silverado as of late. Please contact the police (non emergency line) if you spot them in your area! Stealing from members of our community and taking advantage of our charity partner is disgraceful and unacceptable. ... Please share so we can help protect all members of our community.
