UPDATE: MAX HAS BEEN ADOPTED! GERMAN SHEPHERD AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION When we were first in touch with his original owner, we had accepted Max into the rescue but never heard from him again. Fast forward over a month and we find out that within just three days, Max had gone from his original home to another, then to another, and then ended up in a shelter. How confusing it must have been for this 5-year-old German Shepherd who had only known one home. ... We know very little about Max’s previous life, but we do know that he grew up with a family, and that he was given away due to a move where dogs are not allowed. Max did not seem to know many commands, zig-zags on leash, and was not neutered, indicating that not much was ever done with him. Max has bonded quickly with his caregiver, giving us the opportunity of getting to know him and what kind of home he requires to ensure a successful adoption. As with all the German Shepherds we place, breed knowledge or experience is a prerequisite. Max has a very loyal nature and has also shown us quite a playful side. He enjoys playing fetch, and loves nothing more than a good romp in the kiddie pool to cool off during these hot summer days. Max would prefer a quiet adult forever home with a single or couple who aren’t afraid of working on a bit of leash training. Access to at least a kiddie pool is also a must! Max weighs in at about 90 pounds, and will be neutered as soon as our vet has availability. Please complete an adoption questionnaire on our website if you’re interested in adopting Max.

UPDATE: CANELLE AND CHARLO HAVE BEEN ADOPTED TOGETHER! BONDED PAIR OF CHIHUAHUAS AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION Love Chihuahuas? How about two? Canelle and Charlo are a sweet pair of Chihuahuas from the same home that need to be adopted together. Always loved and well taken care of, their owner’s health issues led to the need for them to find a new forever home. ... Canelle, a black and tan 5-year-old female and the more confident of the two, is described by her foster as a perfect little dog. Both Canelle and Charlo were only used to a backyard for toilet duties and exercise, but Canelle has now been trained to walk on leash and she does so very well. She loves sleeping in the sun, whether inside or out. Canelle is very affectionate, and happy to be cuddled without being demanding. Charlo, a white and brown 4-year-old male, is very shy and frightened of all things new. Despite their best efforts, his fosters have not been able to train him to walk on leash but he’ll go along on walks in someone’s arms. Super cute and extremely affectionate, his fosters cannot sit down without Charlo on a lap. He can be a little bit of a troublemaker in the backyard with neighbouring dogs and can be an escape artist. Charlo will make his presence known when he sees other dogs, squirrels, birds, neighbours, etc. but will stop barking right away when told to. Canelle is good with children as young as 5 years of age but Charlo is intolerant of them, so a home with older teenagers or adults only is required. Canelle is housetrained but Charlo will pee inside occasionally, less than once a week, so this is still a work in progress. Both are good in the car and behaved nicely when bathed. A home with a securely fenced backyard will be a must in order to meet Charlo's toilet and exercise needs. Please complete an adoption questionnaire on our website if you’re interested in offering this bonded pair a forever home.

UPDATE: DJANGO HAS BEEN ADOPTED! LAB / BOXER MIX AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION Meet our handsome Django, an easygoing and well-mannered mix of Lab and Boxer who just celebrated his 7th birthday. Django came into our care from his original family due to a move where dogs are not permitted. ... Since arriving at the foster home, Django has been nothing but a gentleman. He was always well treated, taken to the vet regularly, and is in excellent health. Django is great on leash and gets along very well with the smaller dog at his foster home. He is well behaved in the house and is used to being at home during the day while his people are at work. A big sweet and cuddly boy at about 90 pounds, Django loves to be around children and people. He is curious about cats, but is gentle and just wants to play with them. As you can see by his photo, Django enjoys chilling out on the sofa, so we would love to find him a home where he can continue to do what he is used to. Please complete an adoption questionnaire on our website if Django sounds like the guy for you. Django will be at our adoption day at Mon Ami in Kirkland this Saturday February 22 from 11:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. If you need directions, please click on the scrolling link on our website.

UPDATE: HONEY HAS BEEN ADOPTED! BOXER / DOGO ARGENTINO MIX AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION Since having been surrendered to a shelter by her original owner last summer, sweet Honey has been patiently waiting for a home to call her own. She passed through a few hands and came to our care in sad condition, but is now ready for adoption.... Honey weighs 60 pounds and was born in June 2016. She came to us with an injury of unknown cause to the tip of her tail, but it’s now healing quite nicely. Honey has spent time with dog-savvy children around 10 years of age and is very good with them. She is selective with other dogs, but plays well with a small dog at her foster’s. Honey is a very affectionate girl, and bonds quickly with her people. She is clean in the house, crate trained, and knows a few commands. Honey has quite the playful side but also knows how settle down nicely when it’s quiet time. She will pull a bit on leash at first but is a bright and eager student, so good leash manners should be easy for her. Honey would do best in a house with a fenced yard for safe playtime, and an experienced active adopter with lots of time to spend with her. Please complete an adoption questionnaire on our website if you are interested in offering Honey her forever home.
