March 28, 2020 Message from the President Kildonan Tennis Club is closed to members until further notice. Dear Members:... The weather is looking great and I am sure that everyone is as eager to get out and play tennis as I am. However, please be aware that in keeping with the direction of various governing bodies, Kildonan Tennis Club will remain closed until further notice. Members may not access the courts or the clubhouse. Much is going on behind the scenes, I have been spearheading various initiatives to keep tennis clubs, particularly outdoor tennis clubs as a point of consideration when decision makers such as the provincial Government and Health Authority are determining which entities must be closed and which may open. I have also reached out to our MLA. At this time, however, we are mandated to remain closed. Just to provide you some context in the larger world of tennis: All Professional Tennis at all levels world-wide have been cancelled until June 8, with the expectation that the cancellations will be extended until September or later. The Rogers Cup is expected to be cancelled, as well as our local National Bank Challenger in July. The French Open is tentatively planning to play in later October or November vs cancelling as they did not have any insurance policy on the tournament. I and the other members of the Tennis Manitoba Board are working together and with governing bodies to both advocate for our organizations and to heed the mandates issued to us. We are holding weekly meetings to reassess as the situation unfolds. I am asking for your support and patience as we navigate uncharted waters. We must be dedicated to safety and being part of the solution and not the problem. We will re-evaluate the situation over time while keeping the health and safety of all of our members and staff as the priority. We will issue a notice when the Club is open for business! Thank you. Hey KTC family! You might notice something different about our website next time you check it out... that’s right! We’re rolling out online registration for our memberships, club events, tournaments, and junior lessons! This has been a huge undertaking and we hope our members love the new user-friendly system. We’re not quite ready to launch but keep your eyes peeled for an email coming in April for instructions on how to set up your account! The tennis season is getting close now!

If tomorrow's rainy weather forecast is correct, that means today will be the last day this year the clubhouse is open! Get in today if you have any last minute dollars to spend on your bar tab!

Fall has really snuck up on us this year! Club will be closed tonight - too cold! Please note that (weather permitting), this Sunday, September 29th, will be the last day the club is open for members. Courts can continue to be accessed from 8am to 11pm daily for the brave!

Less than ideal weather today! The club will be closed. Open tomorrow 6:00 to 9:30 pm as long as there's no rain!

Congratulations to Rafael Nadal and Daniil Medvedev for an entertaining and nail biting final. 7-5, 6-3, 5-7, 4-6, 6-4. 5 hours and they were still nailing amazing shots. Roger lookout, Rafa is on your heels. What an amazing Men’s final it turned into with Rafa and Daniil fighting back and forth for that elusive crown. Elusive? Not for Rafa, his 4th US Open and 19th Grand Slam, just 1 behind Roger. ... The greatest men’s tennis player of all time is being decided in our generation right now. Who would have thought that the same 3 guys who dominated in 2006 would still be dominating now. Novak with 16 grand slams is still in the hunt for best player of all time, just behind Rafa and Roger at 19 and 20 respectively.
