Hello Everyone, We thank you for your patience as we are still figuring out a few items regarding our 2021 season and the restrictions that are in place. With r...etuning to phase we are just trying to iron out a few details, than hopefully we can get back on the field sooner than later. We will be opening registration next week so we can see what our numbers will look like and we are good to go once we get the all clear from Baseball Alberta. That being said we are in need some parents and community members to step up and become a coach or executive members on our board as we have some previous members retiring there positions. The weather has us feeling like Spring is here which means summer cant be to far away. Our Summer Student opportunities are open to application until March 19. Please share with those students who maybe interested in Parks or Summer Fun.

Update: As of today(February 8) we can offer One on One Training in the Aquatic Center. Thank you for all the inquires on Private Lessons. We have been busy trying to be sure we follow the ever changing Alberta Guidelines and we are still trying to book in everyone in while following those guidelines. Note at this time there is NO group fitness, lessons, private rentals, or public swimming.... Also our Multipurpose room continues to remain closed for events, gatherings. As the ice has been removed from the Arena. We are working to clean the space up and prepare for other Youth Sports to utilize the space if they wish as well we are preparing for other recreation opportunities to take place at the facility in hopefully Step 2. After today’s Alberta Government announcement. The very hard decision has been made to remove our ice for this season. We want to Thank every single group, member and patron for supporting us in the season we did have. We look forward to the day we can join in the next sport and more excited to hopefully see you all in the fall.

Killam lost one of our #1 Hockey Fans, one of the greats, Gordie Enghoj. Gordie played a major part in Recreation here in Killam. As a young man he volunteered with his Dad to help building the facility. In 1961 when the Memorial Arena had its opening at the New Years Eve Hockey tournament. Gordie dropped the ceremonial puck drop in front of a facility full of fans. ... He volunteered his time helping with Minor Hockey teams up to Senior teams. Gordie even had keys to the facility and often was the first one at the facility on a busy day. He made sure everyone got in the facility and knew what rooms to use. It’s said he knew the facility schedule. And often knew it better than the rec staff themselves. Gordie also was often helping in the bowling alley, swimming pool, helping with Bingo and other events at the facility. Gordie passion was hockey and Killam. He loved the people and pie. We missed Gordie when he was no longer able to visit the facility and cheer on his Jr.Bs. A spot in the lobby has never been the same without him. We will miss him dearly and never forget all that Gordie did for Recreation and the amazing person he was. Rest In Peace Gordie.

Hello Everyone. Just a reminder. As much as we wish our facility was open, we are closed under the Alberta Health Restrictions. This Government restriction includes the Arena,Aquatic Center,Multipurpose room, Fitness Center and Indoor Playground. Starting in December Pre-Registered Swim times for Lane Swimming will run under the new guidelines. As of today. All those times are full. Killam Agriplex is closed to honour Remembrance Day. Remembrance Day Ceremony - 2020 The Killam Legion will hold the traditional March to the Cenotaph, beginning at 10:45am. This year, the ceremony will be broadcast via fm radio (station 88.3, but may change) so people may stay inside their vehicles and still be a part of this tradition. Details for "tuning in" will be posted at the Cenotaph parking lot.

Its a hockey weekend. A note for the general public. Please be aware that the 100 person maximum capacity. Please sanitize or wash your hands upon entering the facility.... Our Arena is looking to add Casual staff to our team. Casual Zamboni Driver: This position would be at minimum 1 week day evening and 1 Saturday per month and must be willing to cover in the event another staff member becomes ill. Responsible for Driving Zamboni, Ice checks, and cleaning. Training can be provided.... Must be over the age of 18. Student Arena Attendant: This position would be no school days, early out, and weekends all based on hockey schedule. Responsible for the cleaning duties around the arena. We are offering a Bronze Medallion Course starting October 14. Course runs Mondays and Wednesdays until December 9. 4:00-5:00PM. This course is for 13 year old and older. The course challenges the candidate both mentally and physically. Judgment, knowledge, skill, and fitness the four components of water rescue form the basis of Bronze Medallion training. Candidates acquire the assessment and problem-solving skills needed to make good decisions in, on, and around the wate...r. Bronze Medallion is a prerequisite for assistant lifeguard training in Bronze Cross. NEW!!! Starting October. Deepwater work out Monday & Wednesday mornings 10:30-11:15am This class is instructed to offer participants a workout that offers cardio and muscle conditioning. By working out in the deep water you remove all stress off the joints making it low impact on the joints all while still getting a great workout. Our local golf courses have a great little deal/bundle. Golf is a great way to get out for some physical activity and socializing. We are so lucky to have so many recreation opportunities in our Region.

The Aquatic Center Regular Programming starts July 2. Lane Swim,Fit Swim,Aqua Sizes,Deep Water. As per Guidelines all participants must be registered. At this time there is NO DROP IN. Great News today. Recreation Facilities have been moved to Phase 2 of the Alberta Reopening Plan. At this time we are reviewing the guidelines set out by the Province and our governing bodies. Please stay tuned for a reopening date.

We would like to Thank the associations that granted some funds to the Regional Aquatic Center in 2019. This grant is greatly appreciated. Killam & District Agriculture Society Daysland & District Agriculture Society Sedgewick & District Agriculture Society and Sedgewick Recreation Funding Committee Heisler Agriculture Society... And to Flagstaff County for distributing those funds to those groups. Thank you again to local Ag Society's. They are a vital part of our rural communities.
