Delicious, savoury and sweet treats on paper were consumed this morning with my morning coffee. It was a visual feast from cover to cover in Uppercase Magazine! Its my favourite art magazine ever for so many reasons. Janine Vangool features artists at various levels of their careers. Her attention to the details make it a place you need to keep revisiting to truly see all of it. Its like one of those boutiques that every time you walk around you notice more and more. She is... building and celebrating an arts community in an inclusive way. I was so surprised when I got to the end and noticed my own studio name with one of my previous instagram posts. What fun! Oh my....10 years ago already! Here I was receiving the Asencio Heritage Art Award at a juried art show at the gallery, Beaux-Arts Brampton. This lovely couple were realtors that had generously sponsored the award. Judy Daley, curator for the Art Gallery of Peel and Kim Ness, former director of the McMaster University Museum of Art were the jurors. What an awesome memory of an amazing event! Thanks facebook, I rarely look at these but Im so glad that I did today! It helped me focus on successes.

Often I think that my spirit driven work is ahead of where I am consciously. Then I seem to catch up to it. I moved this piece titled "Her Guidance" to a place where I could contemplate the meaning daily. I hear the messaging that she seems to contain again and again in an online spiritual course that Im currently taking with Claire Lautier. Yesterday I received a big echo of this piece in a gorgeous thank you gift from dear, dear, old friends. This beautiful manifestation o...f life is held in a gorgeous felt vessel. Thank you for this "riveting" discussion. I listened and I will listen to it all again as it is so rich with insights. Thank you to each panelist for speaking your truth and honestly sharing your experiences. I hear how very tired you feel. I value this panel discussion more than anything I have seen on stage at the Festival Theatre. It made me realize how much I miss dialogue about race and equity since I moved to Stratford from the GTA. I hadnt heard words like shadeism and colour rich for too long. I am so very sorry it has taken so long and so much catastrophic loss and heartache in your fight to be heard, represented, valued and seen. Welcoming You Today I welcome May! I welcome you and reflect on what I had intended and what is unfolding instead. I hope that youve been able to walk as gently as possible through this unprecedented period. In my head before the pandemic I had envisioned hanging this heart wreath on my door and writing about welcoming you through my door for the Stratford Studio Tour this month. I fondly recall my joy when I was walking through a store with dear friends and discovering th...is heart shaped wreath. My friend helped me select pretty purple bits (my favourite colour) and used his own gifts to enhance the basic wreath for me. I am blessed with so many good, generous people in my life. It felt absolutely perfect to adorn my front door and welcome you in to experience my latest creations under my new business name Heart Space Gifts! Today I hung this wreath as planned and think about how common the word pivot has become in this new climate. Slowing down, letting go, grieving and rising again is where I have been and where I am. I have sat with all of the feelings and worked when circumstances allowed and I had the desire and energy. Ironically, I recall that another dream was to move more online and build and branch out. This time has allowed this process to begin. So I invite and welcome you to follow Heart Space Gifts through Instagram and Facebook. Id love to share it all with you as it gently, slowly and intuitively develops. It was a heart warming celebration on Sunday, Nov 24th at Brescia University, during the closing of the fourth and final art exhibition. I felt truly honoured to have had my work curated into all four of their art exhibitions commemorating their centennial anniversary. The vision for these exhibitions, the coordination and manifestation were all orchestrated by Catherinanne George, Director of Ministry. Her insight into the meaning into artists works is phenomenal and her w...ords in each of the accompanying catalogues moved me to tears several times. She tied works of various mediums into common themes for each event. The commitment involved and her understanding of the impact that visual art can have on individual souls was expressed in countless ways. Catherinanne generously shared many of the powerful testimonials written by current students at Brescia. They expressed how they interpreted works and what resonated with them demonstrating how the visual arts continue as a universal language. The legacy that the Ursuline Sisters envisioned and developed 100 years ago lives on in modernity. Lovingly remembering my grandfather, Robert Frost today, a Barnardo Home Child and World War I veteran. Out of such tragic beginnings he grew into one of the kindest, gentlest people that I have known. He was so honoured on the day that they renamed the local legion after him in our home town of Geraldton, Ontario. It was in their humble war time home that I found a sanctuary. The artist in me was rooted in the aromas of my grandmothers baking, my grandfathers pipe tobacco and that sweet safe spot at their kitchen table where I would sit for hours filling the endless sheets of blank paper lovingly provided. Remembered with love everyday...

Saturday, Nov. 9th is my second and final day exhibiting at My Custom Framer. It was a wonderful day last weekend sharing my work and spending lovely time chatting and nibbling in the cosy warmth of Lucinda Jones wonderful space.
