I'm now offering five 16x20 inch prints of a few of my pieces. They are archival and come with a certificate of authenticity. There are only 4 remaining of this one so if you want one, don't wait! https://www.kimstewartonline.ca//they-walk-a-well-beaten-p

New counter mapping piece! This one is on a weather map from the dent’s school atlas (printed and used in the 1950’s). I like to think of the crystal background beads as snow. #countermapping #beadedmap #counterbeading #metisartist #beading #canadianart #canadianindigenousart #kimgullionstewart

How is the weather affecting you lately?

Weather you do or weather you don’t... There’s a little bit of weather happening in this piece. I the weather sometimes influences my beading choices. In this case the piece turned into a spring snowstorm. How is the weather affecting you lately?

I've finished my latest piece in the counter mapping/ counter beading series. For those who are seeing this work for the first time, counter mapping is a practice where community-level people ‘map’ or ‘remap’ against dominant power structures, in this case, a halfbreed stereotype. I've beaded on the actual vintage cover of this 1960's western novel. https://www.kimstewartonline.ca/beadwork/halfbreed-deputy

My project for the last month is FINALLY finished. I thought it was finished twice before, but I kept being called back to use my sewing stitches as a way to redact the words that were interfering with my intended meaning. The beading I'm doing on maps and novel covers is something I'm calling 'counter-beading'. https://www.kimstewartonline.ca/beadwork/name-back

From a show in North Vancouver a number of years ago. I like the way my face and my father’s face on the blanket are close enough to see the similarities. These blankets are so big that they really fill a space! Not only that, they improve acoustics and add a feeling of warmth. Did you know that you can commission me to create a family blanket for you using your own family photos? You can have me do one of your beloved pets as well. Send me a message and let’s talk!

Work, play, work, play. Sometimes it’s hard to go back and forth, but I feel blessed to have a choice. Loved riding this mare. Will miss her, but I know she is loved and where she needs to be. #blessedandgrateful #enjoyyournewhome #mondaymonday
