The research...

I thought I'd share what I hear myself repeating lately..... Washing your hands is still the best way to keep respiratory infections down. If it was a new and fancy solution would we believe in its efficacy more? It is Very Rare for a virus to be spread by a person with no symptoms. This is from a review of 2020 research conducted in many countries on this recent virus specifically, by the W.H.O. (World Health Organization). This little guy is getting a lot of attention. ...I think this is not publicized by policy makers as us general public need real simple rules to follow. Judging symptoms can be tough. If you have any at all, stay home. This is still a virus folks. It needs moist warm bodies to live in. It slowly dies on surfaces, over a day or two. The surface needs to be comfortably moist and freshly touched to keep enough little guys alive to successfully infect a person. It cannot survive soap. Yes doubters, there really is a virus. It really is very contagious. It is spread by an infected person sharing their mucus and spit with others. Be mad at the wasp that stings, the dog that bites, but not at your fellow human who is not wearing a mask. Okay gently remind your friend who leaves their house with infection symptoms to stay home. Be aware of judgments coming from fear, not facts. Staying stressed will hurt your ability to fight off infections. Serenity prayer anyone? Back to basics we go. Live and let live. Help where you can. Love, forgive, support. Don't be a jerk. Go for a walk alone outside if you are not comfortable around people yet. But remember...we are social animals. I could quote many studies that show extended social isolation is detrimental. And if you get the sniffles, stay home. Healing Happiness to you! Dr. Megan.

If conventional medicine is capable of curing disease, how come you have to repeat the medicines, sometimes for life? To me this is clearly not cure but suppres...sion of the underlying cause. I wish my symptoms to be cured not suppressed. I have been choosing this option, as a fully trained and registered practising pharmacist for 30 years with great success for both myself and thousands of patients including a wide spectrum of animals; dogs, cats, horses, sheep, goats, pigs, chickens and cattle. Having a good knowledge of the practice, principles and science behind both conventional medicine and homoeopathy is a great benefit in making a reasonable and logical choice. Next time someone claims it is rubbish ask them what their actual personal experience is. Don't be deluded by ideas, stick to reality instead...in all aspects of your life. I worked as a registered pharmacist for three years, dispensing millions of pills, mostly to the same group of individuals in repeat prescriptions. Being totally dispirited by seeing the same people marching in with prescriptions day after day, week after week, I decided that this wasn’t working. A pharmacist colleague suggested I read a book on the science of homoeopathy by George Vithoulkas, which had recently been published. I could not put it down and on turning the last page was determined to seek the truth behind the words. Managing a high street pharmacy, full each day with desperate patients was a good place to start. I was literally spoilt for choice. I experimented on the first man who walked in that morning and ended up curing a chronic case of tinnitus, something conventional drugs are incapable of achieving to this day. Letter to the Editor of The Times 16th April 2020 Dear Sirs I write in response to the report, Homeopaths ‘risking lives with bogus coronavirus treatments’ and ...the Leading Article, The Times view of homeopaths promoting bogus coronavirus treatments: Junk Medicine The Times Monday 13th April. It is hard to believe that such an august title as The Times would publish articles so lacking in balance, objectivity and factual accuracy. The claim that hundreds of homeopathic practitioners across the country are promoting treatments against Covid-19 infection is just not true. Firstly, homeopathic practitioners treat patients, not conditions. When a patient consults a registered homeopath, their unique set of symptoms is considered before any homeopathic treatments are recommended. What many homeopaths are finding is that, during this most unusual period, they can help patients with a range of physical symptoms, as well as anxiety issues and insomnia. Should a patient believe that he or she has contracted the virus, then homeopaths will be the first to recommend following the advice provided by the NHS. Your articles go on to state various untruths including that there is no evidence that homeopathy is effective. The report by the House of Commons select committee on science and technology in 2010 to which you refer is out of date and was proved to be incorrect. Professor Robert Hahn, an independent researcher in Sweden, wrote in his 2013 meta-analysis: To conclude that homeopathy lacks clinical effect, more than 90% of the available clinical trials had to be disregarded. I would also direct you to the Homeopathy Research Institute an organisation founded by the physicist, Dr Alexander Tournier who previously worked as an independent researcher for Cancer Research UK. The HRI conducts and promotes high-quality scientific research into the efficacy of homeopathy and its website has a free database of the latest trails and studies: www.hri-research.org. In this time when we are facing a worldwide health crisis, we should work together for the greater good. Complementary medicine, including homeopathy, has much to offer. I would ask you to desist from making unfounded and inflammatory statements, which mislead the public, particularly during this period of great vulnerability. Yours faithfully Richard O'Quinn Interim Chief Executive, Society of Homeopaths Sent by email to [email protected]

Pandemic. Not Panicdemic. Change. Stress. Pandemic. Panic. Shut down. No cure. Indefinitely. Schools closed. Bad words! I prefer... Postponed. Peaceful holiday. Off work. Government subsidy. Drive thru. Immune support. Fresh spring air. Sunshine just in time. Changing the words in your head changes your bodies hormonal reactions. Studies show positive thoughts create positive endorphins that can block viral invasions.... We are so blessed to live where we live. Our hearts go out to those less blessed in smoggy places across the globe, where a lung infection is bad. Very bad. Our hands and hearts reach out to the panic stricken old folks. The young moms. It's what we do. Care for each other. We are social animals. Separation can be crazy making. Then along comes online yoga, online school, online grocery shopping, facetime, zoomtime, skype. Aren't we blessed. I was asked for three To Do's for today. I narrowed it down to 5.... 1. Change only what you must. Routine is soothing to the nerves. 2. Get outside. This hopefully includes leaving the news inside. Kids and teens up to age 65 (yup) often need to be sheltered from sensationalism. Younger Kids will respond to how you say it, not what you say. They need to know what is happening in their lives today, not how many could die in the country tomorrow. Block automatic news feeds on kids devices. Answer questions honestly and all that. Talk about it. But if it is more anxiety than observations, go for a walk instead. Every morning I have turned on CBC radio in the kitchen. This is the first week that I haven’t. I have put on classical music instead. Don’t judge. 3. Escapism is okay. Laughter is strongly immune boosting! 4. Do take Vitamin C. This bug hates the stuff. 2,000mgs daily for prevention. Kidney problem people need vitamin E instead. I am holding back from listing the many other vitamins and minerals and botanicals that can be taken to prevent and treat. Watch your sugar and booze intake - they wear you down. In large enough doses. You may need to run some experiments. 5. Do not take Advil. Advil and other NSAIDS seem to encourage this one, according to docs in Europe. Stick to Tylenol if you really need some pain relief, especially if you have a cough right now. Peace not panic, Megan
