Prinoth technicians were at KNC the last two days installing a new hydraulic system on our groomer to support that addition of a third track setter behind the tiller. What is a tiller, track setter or Prinoth you ask? - The Prinoth is our large groomer that few see because it is usually setting trails at night. - The tiller is the attachment behind the groomer that chews up the surface snow and redistributes it through the combs to create the courdorouy that you love to ski ...on. - The track setter compacts that classic tracks in the last step of the process. The addition of a third track setter has been in the works for over a year, in preparation for larger races in the future when activities return to normal. KNC is tentatively slated to host the Western Canadian Championships in 2023. The third track setter will also be really useful for setting teaching grids in the stadium and at Iker's Landing for kids programs and adult lessons.

Last weekend of grooming at KNC! Get your skis out for an April adventure with some fresh grooming tonight in preparation for the weekend. The yellow highlighting on the map indicates what was groomed tonight. This includes a 2km loop up Meadow and back on Spruce along with some climbing up the sprint hill and above to Highlander as an out-and-back. Enjoy! The kiosk will be open from 10-2 on Saturday and Sunday, and will be closed after this until next season. Donations can be left in the blue box outside the kiosk if you go for a ski outside of these hours. See you on the trails!

Today the Nordic Racers practiced telemark lunges and falling lunges over the finish line. There may have been some theatrics involved?

The Nordic Trails have been very popular this year. The team members are working hard to make your visit safe and fun. Daily grooming, parking lot attendant (peak times), regular sanitization are just some of the ways we make it an enjoyable experience. We appreciate your understanding during these challenging times. Lots of room on the trails.

Our trail lighting system is still under repair. Our crew worked for two days to repair the damage from the storm on Wednesday and need to bring in a lift on Monday to complete the connections. We will be closed at 6pm this weekend and there will not be any trail lighting. Get out your headlamp!

Update for Friday January 15, 2021. Some careful grooming work has removed much of the debris off the trails, but Centennial was hard hit by winds and still has much debris. Derm Kennedy and Lance Newton worked on the lighting system today, but could not complete the job with available daylight. Work will continue tomorrow in the hopes of having the trail lights operational Friday night. The best skiing (and least debris) is on Spruce, K2 and further south in the trail system!
