I've been bemoaning the fact that theatre probably won't be taught in schools even if it were to reopen properly, and wondering how on earth I'll get work. Seeing many parents post about homeschooling, I feel compelled to add my name to the list of contacts. Sure the performances may look different, but I'm available for online lessons including which would include character development, scene study, playwriting and more. Wow. It's been a minute since I last posted. The shutdown has been hard for the arts, and it's been a struggle to find my place again in this world of distancing. Theatre is innovative though, and now is the time to innovate! I'm so, so happy that my friend Pink Whale Theatre is back, and I'm ecstatic that we're partnering for a brand new type of performance! Check out Airdrie Happynings for innovative, outside the box, and fun performances popping up all over Airdrie!

Hi Friends, As things change, I must change the way I seek out a livelihood. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, I, like many other Creatives, have seen contracts postponed indefinitely, or outright canceled. This affects our income much like it does everyone else. To that end, I have created a Patreon account. There are different tiers to explore, ranging from $5/month to $20. There are different benefits, and a poll to request more benefits. Please consider becoming a patron if you are able, and as always, I would appreciate you sharing this. Posts like these often become lost in the shuffle of metrics. This past weekend would have been the fifth Airdrie Mayor's Night of the Arts. It is one of the things we lost when we lost Creative Airdrie. It was a night to celebrate the advocates, the professionals, the groups, and above all, the arts. Celebrating arts is more than the Oscars or the Grammies. Celebrating arts is recognizing its importance to the community. I don't think we should let another year go by without recognizing those artists/groups/creative entrepreneurs in ...Airdrie. Why doesn't the City of Airdrie take up the awards? They do the Volunteer Awards, as well as the Athletes awards. Art shapes culture and identity. The City is exploring placemaking. Art is not separate from that. Artists and advocates. Let's go.

Airdrie friends! I just read that in-person theatre is not going to be part of RVS at this time. Through Airdrie Happynings, we are currently looking at ways to fill that void. What kind of programming dates and times would you and your kids/youth be interested in? Saturday/Sunday? Evenings? Afternoons? Let me know!!
