For those of you who picked up Ceropegia ampliata a while back, I hope yours is putting on this amazing show! Native to South Africa and Madagascar, this succulent features succulent, spaghetti-like stems with tiny, short-lived foliage. In fall, these unusual blooms emerge and are used for trapping insects (especially flies) for pollination.... Bugs fly in and are trapped by downturned hairs lining the inside of the tube. They crawl further into the structure until they hit the bottom where they are coated in pollen. The flower withers in a few days, releasing the insect to pollinate other plants. These are in the same family as string of hearts. Plant pictured is from our personal collection and we do not have any in stock. We'll try to get this in again though!
