Being a real estate agent is more than knowing how to write an offer, list and market a house, or understanding what is going on in the market. It’s also about getting to know people, and understanding how I can best help them. I recently worked with a young couple who were looking to purchase their first home. We found a property they loved. It was a family home, and the sellers had many fond memories of growing up there.... My buyers and I discussed our offer strategy, and I recommended they write a letter to the sellers. This doesn’t always work, but when I saw how much the couple loved that house, I had an inkling it would this time and it did! My clients beat out an offer from a home flipper and an investment purchaser looking to rent the house out. Their intention to live in the home and love it as the past family had meant so much to the seller. There’s no way to tell who you’re going up against on offer day, so you always have to put your best foot forward. It really helps to have an agent who not only knows the market, but also knows people.
