! ' #. Check out all the interactive online videos and activities going on at www.earthday.org You can also take a look at the United Nations' International Mother Earth Day webpage: https://www.un.org/en/observances/earth-day... Locally, the Waterloo Region District School Board is running a Backyard Bird Count, running today until April 26. Find the information here: https://schools.wrdsb.ca//cit/wrdsb-backyard-bird-count-2/ How can you help restore our earth? Join the bird count! How are our birds doing? You can help raise awareness of potential concerns for our bird population by participating in this fun activity. Throughout the year make sure you walk around your neighbourhood (wear gloves) and pick up garbage and dispose of it in a nearby garbage can or once you get home. Commit to wasting less water during your day - turn off the faucet while brushing your teeth and washing your face. Take a shower instead of a bath. Install a water saving showerhead. Use reusable water bottles. Keep a few in your cupboard for your family. Shop wisely - be conscious of your clothing purchases (do you really need another t-shirt?), shop at thrift stores and participate in clothing swaps! Can you fix that hole in your sock instead of throwing it out? Participate in a tree planting event. These events are so much fun and you get to walk away knowing you'll see the fruits of your labour for years to come! If you can, choose non-toxic cleaning products. This equates to less toxins in our water supply and mother earth. What are some other ideas you have to help protect and restore our earth? #EarthDay2021 #EarthDayLive #RestoreOurEarth #Kinbridge #Galt #CambridgeOntario #Cbridge

Here's [lead]'s Question of the Week: ? An ecological footprint is a measure of sustainability. It measures how fast we consume resources and generate waste compared to how fast nature can absorb our waste and generate new resources. Picture the Earth as a bank account. It can support an amazing number of species off just the renewable part of its resources: the interest. When one species becomes too numerous in its resource use, it is spending ...not only the interest, but also the principle. Leaders need to be aware of their ecological footprint and the tools needed to reduce negative individual impacts so they can inspire others to change and preserve the environment for future generations. ? While it sounds like it could be a cute chipmunk cartoon name, it's not. A tripper is something that trips us up or limits us and keeps us from doing or being what we want. Don’t worry- everyone has them! Learning about ourselves is a continual part of life. Consider yourself a work of art. Chipping away at our imperfections helps us to achieve our goals and become what we envision. A common phrase that we use that trips us up is: I should have....... If you find yourself tripping over that response, try phrasing it differently! Try saying things like : Next time I will.. or change the word have to to choose to. : Draw a list of all your strengths and achievements Make a list of all the positive things you have learned from a negative situation Write down the areas that you want to change to become the person you envision For every area you want to change, write down how you are going to make those changes We reflect on our trippers often during [], as reflection is a necessary part of leadership. If you have questions or would like to chat about how you can chip away at your trippers, please reach out to our Youth Development Coordinator, Amanda, at 519-624-3855 or [email protected].
