MISSING DOG - Kinburn area, near Galletta Side Rd and John Shaw Rd. Boots’ leash broke this afternoon and we can’t find her. She has an orange hunt collar on, most likely with part of her red tie out still attached. She can be timid to strangers but she is very friendly. ... Please call or message 613-818-2573 if you’ve seen her. Thank you!

West Carleton Disaster Relief, in association with FireSmart, is hosting a webinar on February 20th to discuss the FireSmart program and how to mitigate wildfire risk. Ottawa Fire Services responded to several wildfires in our area last year. While there are things individual homeowners can do to mitigate the risk to their homes, some factors are larger, and mitigating them would benefit from collective action across West Carleton. In order to maximize the benefits of the pr...evention and mitigation efforts, neighbours need to work together to tackle as many of the FireSmart recommendations as possible. The FireSmart Neighborhood Recognition Program (https://firesmartcanada.ca//neighbourhood-recognition-pro/) was set up to help with this challenge. Neighbourhoods whose residents participate in this program engage in efforts to reduce their vulnerability to wildfires and increase their chances of surviving a wildfire. The successful completion of the program leads to the FireSmart Neighborhood Recognition. As an introduction to this process, in association with FireSmart, WCDR is holding an online information session for interested homeowners. On Feb 20, 1:00 - 3:00 pm you can join on zoom if you email [email protected] so for an invitation containing the link.

I have been asked to post this anonymous survey to the group. Seeing as mental health is extremely important and often overlooked especially in our youth I thought this was a great opportunity. The Rural Ottawa Youth Mental Health Collective has launched a survey for youth aged 12-24. Youth can fill it out for a chance to win 1 of 16 $150 cards to a store of their choice! Scan this QR code or go to [www.o-ya.ca](http://www.o-ya.ca/) to fill out the anonymous survey. It ta...kes about 15 minutes, and your answers will be used to plan mental health programs and services in rural Ottawa. At the end of the survey you can enter a draw to win 1 of 16 $150 gift cards to your choice of restaurant or shop! Your entry into the draw will not be connected to your answers on the survey. Please share with anyone in rural Ottawa! Thank you to Bell Let’s Talk for funding these prizes. http://www.o-ya.ca/

Yellow flag is now up. Please note the COVID rules below from the City of Ottawa regarding outdoor rink usage. The hall won't be open. Skaters can change in the outdoor area.... City Regulations for Outdoor Rinks https://ottawa.ca//recreation-and-pa/skating/outdoor-rinks Following the provincial announcement of restrictions coming into effect on January 14, community and refrigerated rinks and sledding hills will remain open with the current 25-person capacity restriction and masking requirements. Outdoor rinks are open, weather-dependent. Reservations are not required at community outdoor rinks. Please note that due to COVID-19 the following safety measures will be implemented: There is a 25-person capacity limit in effect at all outdoor community rinks beginning January 8 at 5 pm. Please limit your time during busy periods. By-law and Regulatory Services has deployed a dedicated team of officers to proactively monitor these areas. No hockey sticks, pucks or other team sports are permitted on the ice and skaters must maintain a two-metre distance from people outside their household. Masks are mandatory within 15 metres (50 ft) distance of the edge of the ice surface. Masks are not mandatory while skating but are highly recommended. Skaters who are not from the same household must keep two metres apart on and off the ice.
