With warmer weather finally here it's easier to enjoy time outdoors. Here's a fun art project for older pre-schoolers and school children. Creating art outdoors boosts creativity and is a great way to get fresh air while connecting with nature.

Today's craft is for those littles who love to cut. You will need toilet paper rolls, kid-friendly scissors, and some markers or crayons. Disclaimer: remember to put the scissors away so your little doesn't decide to cut their own hair.

Are your kids bored? Loose parts play is great for working those imagination muscles! And best of all, doesn't require a trip to the store. Challenge your kids to build something from objects they can find in the house, from full size forts to a parking garage for their hotwheels.

Good afternoon all, today was supposed to be a Kinder Creators day! We usually start each session with an invitation to creativity so today I've shared a video from a Saskatchewan children's artist, Sylvia Chave, to help get those creative juices flowing! During this time of social-distancing Sylvia is going live from her page several times a week so head over there and support an amazing local artist. My son loves her song "Higher Higher", and "The Cookie Cutter Song" is always a children's favorite. And since today is a BEAUTIFUL day, why not play outside AND create some art? Try painting the snow with coloured water or watered down paint! You could even paint Easter eggs on the lawn!

Due to Covid-19 concerns, Kinder Creators will not be running on March 25. Thank-you for your understanding. Below are some of my favorite tried and true creative and sensory activities to try with your children: 1. Build 3 dimensional projects using small marshmallows and toothpicks.... 2. Explore colours and how they interact by adding a very tiny amount(a single drip should do) of red, blue, and yellow paint to separate jugs and begin mixing them in clear cups- the paint water mixes more slowly than water that had been coloured using food colouring so you can see the colour blending process in near slow motion 3. Make a home made marble run using TP and paper towel rolls, and boxes or blocks. You can use pom pom balls, marbles, ping pong balls, gumballs, dried play dough balls, styrofoam balls, etc 4. Create string art by dipping string in glue and applying to different surfaces including construction paper, wax paper, tinfoil, wood, paint canvases, felt or any other available canvas you can think of. 5. Build safe large structures using boxes - boxes from cereal, snacks, packages all work excellent! 6. Make sock puppets using old socks and available craft supplies or loose parts 7. Make puffy paint by mixing liquid tempura paint into shaving cream, make sure it's a shaving cream that.foams up well 8. Make a sensory bin/bowl and fill with one of the following: rice, beans, cut up pieces of plastic straws, easter straw/basket filler, cotton balls, water with soap, squash insides 9. Make Gak! Equal parts cornstarch and water makes a semi-solid. It's hard when it isn't touched and liquid when you manipulate it (you may meed to add more water/cornstarch to reach correct consistency) 10. Painting snow - go outside and paint the snow using coloured water or paint
