Who says reading means books. This 5 year old had such an amazing time as I wrote little strips of paper asking him to bring me various materials from the classroom. What I loved what this wasn’t just a reading activity. This activity involved 1. Movement - he had to walk to different parts of the classroom to find different materials 2. It was reading comprehension 3. It was so much fun that he didn’t want to stop. 4. He inspired other children to want to a similar activ...ity! 5. As a teacher this excites me for tomorrow. (Much needed purpose for us especially during pandemic times!) See more

Everyday it warms my heart when I see young children so engaged in their choice of work. Despite pandemic times, it is amazing to be In the midst of children every single day. #freedomofchoice #amienvironment #MontessoriMoments

Ontario has announced province wide school closure. KinderHaus Montessori is licensed as a child care centre and hence we will remain open for regular business. We continue to follow all health protocols to keep our children and families safe.

Our days are so filled with purposeful activities that aid concentration, logical thinking, pincer grip and so much more #amienvironment #MontessoriMoments

We had finger knitting galore happening in our classroom. And it was non-stop. While some were finger knitting someone was busy with Math! #oakridgesontario #MontessoriMoments #amienvironment #practicallifeactivity #montessorimath

Discovering the neighbourhood was so fun! It gives opportunities for so many conversations! Understanding street signs. And who says reading must happen only inside a classroom. This 3rd year child read and interpreted the signs. An afternoon well spent #oakridgesontario #discoveringourneighbourhood #montessorimoments #richmondhillontario #walkintheneighbourhood #readingisfun

This video is indeed so precious because what you see is a child’s concentration despite background noise. There was another child who was hammering in the background #amienvironment #MontessoriMoments #practicallifeactivity

While some children loved the idea of painting Easter eggs, one decided only to watch. I love the idea of children being able to say no to something they aren’t interested in!

Grateful for warm weather. This also means we can go looking for dinosaur prints. Well what we found were dog paw prints in the baseball diamond! #montessorimoments #walkintheneighbourhood #discoveringourneighbourhood #Grateful #richmondhillontario #oakridgesontario

One of the primary restrictions we are experiencing in our classroom during these times is, the inability of children to cook/bake/serve each other. We decided that each child must have the opportunity to prepare their own snack and hence the idea of a smoothie. Each child prepares and consumes their own smoothie. The jars are disinfected after each child and then set up for the next child to prepare their smoothie.

Age 5. Adjective game. This child is working with the Grammar symbols box. The objective of this activity is to bring the child’s awareness to parts of speech.
