Welcome Back StarSkaters! Today marks the first day of the regular season for Advanced CanSkate, PreStar, Junior and Senior skaters. We can’t wait to see you ...on the ice! Please remember to bring: - Your Skate Canada Risk Assumption Waiver (if you haven’t already returned it) - A full water bottle (refill station is closed due to Covid) Please take the time to review all new protocols due to Covid-19. AS OF OCTOBER 19, the two rinks are operating as completely separate facilities. Please DO NOT use the adjoining doors to cross between rinks. MASKS ARE REQUIRED within the facility. A detailed outline of all policies was attached in your welcome email last Friday.

September is quickly approaching which means it’s nearly time for Fall School, and then soon after we will begin our regular season. Attached below are the registration links for Fall School and Regular Season. All regular season registrations received prior to August 31, 2020 will receive a $50 Discount (already reflected on the form). ... The Town of Kindersley has graciously set up a Recreation Assistance fund for families that have been financially impacted during these challenging times. The application form is linked below and is completely confidential. Please note that the situation with Covid-19 is fluid and ever changing. Winter Classic was a success! Our skaters had a great time on and off the ice! They had very good performances and should all be very proud! Mini coach Chloe also enjoyed joining in on the fun

These skaters are headed off to Winter Classic competition in Moose Jaw this weekend! Have a great time skaters! I asked what their favorite part of competition is- Maddy - helps you work hard and it’s exciting to see how you improve on your report card. It’s fun! ... Jayden - performing what you have learnt in front of others and watching other skaters! Courtlyn - meeting new people making new friends having fun ! Suzannah- everything ! Experience is fun! Simeon - meeting up with old friends he has met in previous competitions.

More great accomplishments for our skaters! Yesterday was an assessment day in Clavet Jayden passed 10 fox and 14 step Courtlyn passed 10 fox and 14 step. Ava passed 10 fox.... Suzannah passed American. Tori passed Westminster. Coach/partner Sam reports overall it was a good day! Great skating ladies and thanks Sam!

Last week our skaters had a great time at the Meadow Lake Regional Competition! Competition is much more then just skating, it’s the experience, hanging with friends, sharing the day with family. Another awesome program our club offers is our fall skating school! Such a great start to the season, focus on all essential skills of each program! Our hockey prep/pre power program is taught by Skate Canada Power Skate certified coaches. Work on the skating skills needed to get you ready for the upcoming season! Skaters moving from to Canskate to Advanced Canskate, Pre Star and Star Skate - it’s always a great way to work on the fundamentals and preparing for the season!... We always highly recommend joining us! Learn to Skate 8-18- always wanted to know how to skate ? This is an awesome place to start! It will help you learn basic skating skills to help you feel confident out on the ice! Fun for all! We look forward to seeing you out on the ice

Advanced Canskate - a new program offered to skaters not finished all Canskate levels and are wanting to work towards figure skating PreStar - a bridge program where skaters finish off the last levels of Canskate and start working in Star Skate Tests. Star Skate -

Synchro skating- The discipline in skating where you skate together as a team. In the past our teams have been recreational, performed at the carnival, for other skating groups and Klipper games. We also had teams compete at regional and invitational competitions. Skaters come from all levels of skating from Canskate level and up! These teams have consisted of skaters currently in our skating program and past skaters that wanted to join in on the fun! We are currently looking for more team members to join all of our teams! We would like to tell you more about our Canskate program! WHY SIGN UP FOR CANSKATE? What is CanSkate?... CanSkate is a dynamic learn-to-skate program that focuses on fun, participation and basic skill development. Based on Sport Canada’s long term athlete development (LTAD) principles, CanSkate centers on physical literacy and the fundamental skills needed to take part in any ice sport or to skate as a recreational activity. Who’s it for? For beginners of all ages, children or adults, as well as for those wishing to improve their basic skills whether their focus be for figure skating, hockey, speed skating or just skating for fun. Who teaches it? NCCP-trained professional coaches, assisted by trained program assistants. What will you learn? A complete series of balance, control and agility skills taught in six stages of learning that pertain to hockey, ringette, speed skating and figure skating as well as general recreational skating. CanSkate uses nationally-tested and proven curriculum and delivery methods that guarantee skater success in developing stronger basic skills and developing them faster. What can you expect? Action, movement and fun! Lessons are given in a group format with a coach-to-student ratio of a maximum 1:10. Skaters progress at their own rate and coaches make sessions active using teaching aids, upbeat music and a wide variety of activities that create a motivational environment and promote learning. Badges, ribbons and other incentives are used to benchmark skaters’ progress and reward effort and participation.
