#Repost @flow.high.performance This study compared the effects of different protein intakes during a calorie deficit on body composition. All participants consumed a roughly ~40% calorie restricted diet while performing a full-body resistance training routine 2x / week for 4 weeks.... One group consumed 1.2g / kg / day of protein, while another group consume 2.4g / kg/ day of protein during this energy deficit. It was found that the group consuming a higher daily protein intake saw a greater proportion of fat-loss and a small gain in lean mass. The group consuming a lower protein intake lost less fat-mass and saw no changes in lean mass. #hypertrophytraining #hypertrophy #weightlifting #fitnesstraining #personaltraining #powertraining #musclegrowth #gym #strengthandconditioning #physicalpreparation #sportperformance #nutrition #athleticperformance #sportsnutrition #training #performance #strengthtraining #lift #lifting #plyometrics #jump #hypertrophy #muscle #athletic #strengthforathletes #strength #sportscience #injuryprevention #athletedevelopment #athletictraining

Stick your butt out! This is my top cue for any bent over movement. Pushing the hips back and out to hinge at the waist rather than curving at the lower spine. Second for myself is point knee inlinenwith toes out rotating them outwards to help engage the glutes for hip stability rather than relying on the lower back.... Third is tightening the core to stabilize the spine and reduce load in unwanted places. I see it too often that when any one 1 of these 3 are not taught of consistently practiced, strains of the lower back happen much more often and can derail your fitness efforts for up to a few weeks. Save your back, go a little slower and practice form or speed. #formandfunction #lowbackpainrelief #lowbackpain #saveyourback #bentoverrow #bentover #bentoverrows

Back pain... 4 out of 5 adults will experience it! Involuntary spasms in your lower back? A dull throbbing ache? Shooting pain down your leg? You are most likely suffering from low back pain (LBP). If you’ve never had low back pain, chances are you will at some point in your life. Back pain can occur at any point of the spine, and is characterized by a range of symptoms including pain, muscle tension or stiffness, weakness in the legs or feet, and a possible tingling or burni...ng sensation, often traveling down the legs (sciatica). Other symptoms that are often not listed include frustration, anger, decline in mental health, irritability, depression and anxiety. It is often caused by stresses on the muscles and ligaments that support the spine. Thus, the most common site affected is the lower back because it bears the most weight and physical stress. Back problems are among the most common chronic conditions in Canada. Four out of five adults will experience at least one episode of back pain at some time in their lives, although occurrence is most often between the ages of 30 and 50. Back problems appear with equal frequency in men and women. One of the leading reasons I see for so many back injuries is a lack of core strength and knowledge of how to use your core to stabilize the spine. It's not your fault if you dont know how as no one has shown you or taught you how. If you're looking to increase your core strength, improve posture and avoid becoming a statistic, let's chat! 3 Mantras to be more intentional in your life: Be kind! Kindness towards others fulfills the basic human need to be seen, heard, and needed. Self-care: Check in with yourself regularly. Address what you need as often as you address the needs of others.... Food is fuel! When you eat better, you feel better. Cooking at home is healthier for your body and further protects the Earth by reducing trash and food waste. Win or learn! Resetting and incrementally expanding your goals is a main component of intentional living. Be mindful on a regular basis of what’s working, what’s not, and then how to continually pivot closer to your goals. Not every workout is going to be phenomenal. The act of pulling the yoga mat out, lacing up the sneakers and getting an increasing amount of sweaty as often as possible still counts as working towards the life you want. Perfection is not the goal. Life is about the journey not any single destination. It is essential to the human condition to strive towards something. Consider this goal: to find peace in accepting where you are today while simultaneously working towards a better future for yourself and those around you. #lifejourney #humancondition #bekind #bekindtoyourself #bewelltogether #cbridge #Progressnotperfection

9 ways to be intentional in your everyday life! 1. Plan and structure your day! Develop a solid and consistent morning and evening routine. 2. Choose to be kind (especially to your self). How we think about our life, how we make decisions and whether we take action (or not) is all down to our mindset.... 3. Do something that brings you joy! 4. Practice active listening. When life gets busy, it's easy to take the relationships we have with others for granted. Relationships need work to be strong, practice ACTIVE listening. 5. Make time for self-reflection/development. 6. Do something you can be proud of. 7. Priorities rest and self-care. Pay attention to your mental health, be intentional and aware of your emotions and state of mind. A good first step when feeling low is to write everything down on paper. 8. Question your 'have tos'. If you plan and organize yourself more, then you can create more time for yourself to do other things. 9. Ask 'why' before you buy. It's easy to hit the shops for a quick pick me up, be intentional about what you spend your money on. #selfdevelopment #bewellathletes #bewelltogether #beintentional #cbridge

Want to see your results take off!? Become intentional! What I did to become intentional with my own fitness was: 1. Have my workout clothes ready the night before!... 2. Have a plan and goal before I even set foot inside the gym. (Long term goal and goal for each session) 3. Cut back on how much I was working out. If I workout too much along with everything else in life, I start to feel burnt out. 4. Make the workouts fun and empowering! Yes there are things that I do which I need to do and are not as fun but I also add in lifts that make me feel strong and accomplished for each session. 5. Have a consistent time of day and consistent days of the week to workout. When you have the attitude of I can workout whenever I find the time, its just isn't going to happen! You don't find time, you make it! #beintentional #bewellathletes #bewelltogether #strength #conditioning #strengthandconditioning #cbridge
