What does fitness mean to you?? Let me know below , I'm interested in knowing how you perceive 'fitness'. For me, it means having the mental and physical capacity to hike over 31miles in the past 4 days without pain. This isn't to say I didn't work hard the past couple of years to be able to do something like this. I used to have excruciating knee pain while hiking and honestly I tended to avoid hiking even though I exploring.... I finally decided it was time. It was time to put my career to good use. It was time to take my goals seriously. It was time to put myself first. You are worth it. It is worth putting in the work. There is more to fitness than having a 6-pack and being able to lift big weights. Hiking season is coming.. are you ready By @coach_alysha . Years ago I consistently experienced knee pain when I hiked (especially on the descent). This sucked. I almost cried everytime. But the views were worth it - I just limited the # of hikes I went on. .... So I did what any professional would do and I rehabbed my knees. In fact though it was the surrounding musculature. . I completed a hopefully non-biased assessment of myself (and saw a couple physios) and then designed myself an individualized program . This is also what I do for my clients . . Long story short no more knee pain on hikes . These are two exercises I'm currently doing to ensure my knees are ready for the big hike @flyingsurfergirl and I are going on! . 5-2-10 Cable Squats Step downs and up . Anytime you try out a new exercise or activity and go hard on it you can expect to be sore BUT there are ways you can prepare for it. . Do you have something coming up you want your body ready for? Does how you spend your weekends align with your goals? If you're serious about achieving your goals, you need to look at how you're spending your free time. If you're goal is weight loss, but you're spending your free time sitting and snacking on calorie dense foods, your actions versus your ideals do not line up.... If your goal is to become more active and fit, but you spend your free time watching netflix because you're tired... once again, your ideals and reality dont match up. Take some time and reflect upon your actions this weekend and determine whether they are inhibiting your progress. Learn healthy movements now Remain independent in older age By @coach_alysha . I'm honestly not sure why our physical health isnt something we are investing in. .... We WORRY WORRY WORRY about our RRSP's, CPP, etc. because who wants to without financial support in our retirement years . But would you rather be using that money for enjoyment or health care costs in your old age? .
