Fun fact- I’m a little obsessed with the moon! Aside from the fact that it’s a pretty little light in the sky that makes any picture look more magical, every time I see the moon it reminds me of how extraordinary our existence is. I watched a space documentary a couple months ago and this crazy fact about the moon totally blew my mind. Are you ready? Did you know that the moon is exactly the perfect size and distance from the earth to perfectly cover the sun during a total ...solar eclipse? Not only that, but the moon is slowly moving further away from Earth every year, so if we existed a few thousand years earlier or later, the moon would no longer be in perfect alignment to totally cover the sun’s light, therefore no more perfect eclipses. Soooo... we happen to exist in the perfect sliver of time to be able to observe such a rare phenomenon. Actually, the word rare doesn’t even begin to describe how incredibly unlikely this is to happen, let alone that we are alive to witness it. This kind of thing has never been observed anywhere else in the universe. No other planet has total solar eclipses! Just us. The odds against such a perfect match are so enormous that scientists have no explanation as to how this kind of coincidence could happen. They actually think it’s more likely that that ‘someone’ or ‘something’ artificially placed the moon in its spot, because such a precise alignment could not happen naturally. Those scientists and I may disagree on who we believe placed the moon in its spot but I just want to leave you with this- whether you realize it or not, you are incredibly special, unique, valuable, and your existence is so rare. You are the only you that’s ever existed in the history of all time, and there will never ever be anyone else like you again So let the moon remind you of your uniqueness every time you look at the night sky, and never lose your sense of wonder and awe for the universe we live in!
