With the regional change to "Orange-Restrict", we wanted to share our office's response that has been implemented with the safety of our valued patients and staff in mind: In addition to our hospital-level disinfection, isolated rooms and heightened cleaning schedules, our dentists have increased their PPE requirements again and our dental hygiene appointments are now avoiding aerosols. State-of-the-art air purifiers coupled with HVAC control changes improve our air changes per hour and air quality. Our office has been open for dentistry this month and we are happy to say that we will recommence dental hygiene services July 6th. Both of our governing bodies (RCDSO and CDHO) have developed guidelines based on data from many government and research-based sources. We, at King East Dental Care, meet or exceed all of the recommendations from our colleges. All of our operatories are self-contained, our staff will be wearing a variety of new personal protective equipment and... your co-operation with our new protocols will ensure the highest level of safety that we can offer. While the directive from the Minister of Health has been lifted for health care providers, we are awaiting specific directives on what that entails from our governing bodies (RCDSO and CDHO). We are planning to open our clinic on June 15, 2020 to perform whatever procedures are allowed at that point in time. In the interim, our office will still be available, via phone, to attend to your emergencies. Please contact the office to discuss your situation so that we can keep you ...healthy and pain-free. Leave a detailed message including you name, number and the details of your specific situation. We will be checking the machine daily and returning calls by the end of the following day. If you have an emergency that cannot wait such as facial trauma or uncontrolled bleeding, contact one of the region's oral surgeons. If you are unable to contact an office, please go directly to the emergency department of your local hospital. We are in the process of contacting all scheduled patients directly. Thank you for your understanding and patience with this process. As we have now received an update from our governing colleges, we wanted to share our update for the office with you. We have been planning and procuring all of the things that we need to ensure your safety and well-being as well as our own and are happy to announce that dentistry in Ontario has been given the green light to reopen for "essential care" services per the RCDSO. This is defined as emergency and urgent care as well as procedures deemed necessary to minimize harm to patients and/or relieve pain and suffering only. Our plan is to open our doors mid-June and will therefore be contacting patients starting next week to schedule them with the dentist in a triage manner. We look forward to seeing you again soon.
