Does anybody really know what time it is?

King Edward Choir 08.01.2022

Calling all young singers! We’re all still shut down yet there are still opportunities out there to sing in groups. The SAHC is inviting all young singers (aged 4+) to learn a new children's choir part in Vuelie, written by composer Frode Fjellheim especially for this project.... No experience necessary - any young singer can join the free children’s choir rehearsal live on YouTube. Children don’t need to sign up to the full Vuelie project to be part of the children’s choir. To take part, all you need to do is: Watch the free livestreamed rehearsal to learn the children's part (optional!) Send SAHC an audio-only recording of you singing the children's part, which we'll include in the final track of Vuelie performed by the Stay At Home Choir The free children's choir rehearsal will be livestreamed to the SAHC website on Thursday 17th February, 4pm GMT and will be available to watch until Friday 4th March, 11.59pm GMT. If you run a choir for older children or confident young singers, get in touch at [email protected] to join the full Vuelie project. They’ll arrange a bespoke group rate to suit your needs. Find out more (children's choir FAQs) and get the link to watch the free rehearsal! Please share with any young singers you know - especially fans of Frozen! - and we hope to see you all in rehearsals soon! Jamie, Tori, and the SAHC Team

Opportunities to Stay Choir Active Some members participated in the recent international Stay at Home Choir’s O Magnum Mysterium. The attached YouTube link is to the Stay At Home Choir’s final 2021 production, O Magnum Mysterium. Enjoy! https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=GD6r4sOEZHU&feature=youtu.be ... Please share the above and the information/opportunities below. And now: Just an update on what’s available to stay choir ready during the shutdown: 20 minute daily tune up sessions, with Dan Miller from London England, resume January 10th at 1300hrs. The monthly fee is 15 or with the currency exchange about $25.78 Cdn. There’s two technical sessions, a Jazz, a classical, a contemporary, a musical theatre, and a pop session each week. Each daily session begins with a 5 minute warm up where Dan gives a lot of tips during various scales. If you cannot make the 20 minutes at 1300 hours, each session is recorded and available 24 hours a day every day. The resource library for members is vast. A number of us did this all through 2021 and felt it truly helped us stay vocally involved and socially engaged. The second opportunity is with the Stay at Home Choir’s next project, Vuelie. Sessions begin January 24 2022 and cost 17, with the current exchange rate of 0.55, the Canadian equivalency is $30.63. A few of us are already signed up; will you join us? Each session is recorded and available 24 hours a day everyday. You'll recognise Vuelie from the opening of Disney's Frozen - and now you can learn to sing it! Join the SAHC over 3 weeks of online rehearsals with Frode Fjellheim, a Sámi composer and musician from Norway, for a unique opportunity to sing a new mixed voice arrangement of this magical piece. You'll also get the chance to learn to yoik - a traditional Sámi style of singing - with Frode Fjellheim himself. Vuelie has a children's voice part , so they will also be running a free open session especially for young singers! Come learn to yoik. https://projects.stayathomechoir.com/courses/vuelie

OVER 12,000 VIEWS AND COUNTING! In 2020, Mike Church asked if I would play some Christmas carols for our church’s YouTube Channel, so two days later we met an...d spent a day recording 12 carols with the help of our crew Andrea, Elis and Noah. Thank you all for helping create this keepsake from Trinity and for drawing thousands of viewers inside our church walls. A year later, one of those impromptu videos now has over 12,000 views! Thanks Mike for believing and for bringing your unmatched audio/video expertise back to our small town of Gravenhurst. You are valued https://youtu.be/3RSODc6g2LE Also: Mike will present his new inspiring song called Ring the Bells on Christmas Day tonight at our live-streamed Christmas Eve service at 7pm on the church’s YouTube Channel called Trinity United Gravenhurst. Janice and Penny will be singing back-up vocals as well as playing handchimes donated by Maggie ! Please remember to include our church in your year-end financial giving, as we enter yet another lockdown situation. Remember that Trinity United Church Gravenhurst is the place that houses Gravenhurst Against Poverty and the Gravenhurst Women’s Centre and provides heating, lights, and a newly renovated kitchen for so many community groups in town. Folks often forget that the church needs sustenance in order to continue being a community building, so please support our upcoming livestream ventures which will hopefully be including yoga, meditation, and high-quality streams of live looping, music jam sessions, profiles and interviews. You can donate to the church securely through Canada Helps, a non-profit dedicated to helping non-profits fundraise. A tax-receipt will be issued to you immediately by email, so take advantage of this time to donate! https://www.canadahelps.org//119271245RR0001-trinity-unit/ Thank you and stay tuned for more great videos in the future! Thank you to all who have helped me with this concussion I’ve had since Feb I’m still not functioning at 100% but am hopeful that in a year I will be capable of more. The worst part is that people cannot see the injury and do not know that inside my brain there’s is a lot of trauma and so when I cannot perform a task, rather than getting upset with me, please realize that I am traumatized and full of PTSD, so sometimes my behaviour isn’t as smooth are your expectations would have me be. Thanks to Trinity for supporting me in this trying concussion journey, which has altared my life. Blessings and please enjoy the music. We put our heart and soul into it

Ive been making a free series for singers through July. Each video is about 15 minutes and deals with an aspect of vocal technique that can be helpful for chor...al singers, with some of my strategies that I use in performance to optimise the condition of my voice.
