Check out Nathan's first contribution to the Permaculture page on the Food Producers Forum. This is a great resource for anyone growing, hunting or foraging their own food in Newfoundland and Labrador! https://foodproducersforum.com/per/my-permaculture-journey/

Our garlic has made its appearance! This will be a great addition for our CSA baskets! We use garlic in almost every meal we cook, so we’re very excited to have fresh local garlic in our kitchen this year and in the kitchen of our members! #kingfisherfarm #garlic #local #organicallygrown #sustainablefarming #nlfarms #nlfarming #centralnewfoundland #gambo #gander #glovertown #clarenville

Seeding has begun! We’re just starting, but onions, shallots, broccoli and cauliflower are already in the dirt! This sunshine is pretty motivating today! #kingfisherfarm #seedlings #sustainablefarming #nlfarming #nlfarms #centralnewfoundland #gambo #gander #glovertown #clarenville

This week we’ve been working on ways to support natural pest control by inviting some local predators! These are nest boxes for (from left to right) robins, swallows, Kestrels and Northern Flickers. Interested in having some on your own property? Msg us for options and prices! #kingfisherfarm #sustainablefarming #naturalpestcontrol #predator #nestboxes #nlfarming #nlfarms #permaculture #centralnewfoundland #gambo #gander #glovertown #clarenville

Happy first full day of spring everyone! We are so excited for this coming year and could not have ordered a better first week of spring! We’ll be outside lots, tidying up, measuring the melting snow and organizing the greenhouse space. What will you be doing in the sun?

Well somebody’s happy with all the snow we got! We spent the morning shoveling and the afternoon doing our planting schedule. Warm days ahead and joy in the snow in the meantime. #kingfisherfarm #snowday #onehappykid #plantingschedule #csa #communitysupportedagriculture #nlfarming #nlfarms #centralnewfoundland #gambo #gander #glovertown #clarenville

Our baskets are full of yummy and beautiful things. Depending on what is growing you’ll receive fresh produce, including peas, beans, carrots, peppers, tomatoes, beets, turnip, radishes, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, cucumber, lettuce and kale. We’re going to experiment and try corn, eggplant, cantaloupe, pak choi and a few other surprises this year too. All our seeds are organic and our farming practices are founded in organic permaculture and include no synthetic fertiliz...ers or additives. We also add in yummy baked goods and locally foraged goodies such as fresh cut flowers, maple syrup, dandelion jelly and some new things we’re going to try this year. Now doesn’t that sound like something you’d like every week from the end of June to October? #kingfisherfarm #whatsinyourbasket #csa #communitysupportedagriculture #weeklybaskets #freshproduce #locallyforaged #somuchgoodstuff #sustainablefarming #sustainableagriculture #nlfarms #nlfarming #centralnewfoundland #gambo #gander #glovertown #clarenville

A CSA, or community supported agriculture, is a way for both the farmers and consumers to benefit from farm shares. We offer a certain number of shares for our farm to the public. When you decide to opt in for a share, you become a member and will receive weekly baskets during the growing season full of fresh produce, baked goodies, locally foraged yummy things. We, as the farmers, have access to funds to invest into the farm at the beginning of the season instead of waiting for harvest time. Sounds pretty good, right?! Let us know if you’d like to be added to our email list to hear when we’ll be opening up our CSA memberships for 2021! #kingfisherfarm #csa #communitysupportedagriculture #sustainableagriculture #nlfarming #nlfarms #centralnewfoundland #gambo #gander #glovertown #clarenville

We planted oats as a cover crop after our final harvest to help feed nutrients back into the soil. We never expected it would still be so green at this point in the year! #kingfisherfarm #oats #covercrop #abnormallywarmwinter #sustainablefarming #rebuildingsoil #soilheath #healthysoilhealthyfoodhealthyplanet #sustainableagriculture #feedingthesoil #sunnyjanuary #nlfarming #nlfarms #centralnewfoundland #gambo #gander #glovertown #clarenville
