Crafts for this week!!!
Good morning! We are looking at "zooming" with the kids! One idea is to use all the beautiful puppets we have here at the Centre. We have lots of animal puppets. What we have in mind is showing the animal puppet, let the kids tell us what kind of animal it is. Then have a chat about it, what might this animal eat, does he get his food at the grocery store, where do you think they live, can they live in your house. We would show several animals each zoom, while we have their attention. We are looking at reading a book also. So...we are wondering what you think, and if you have any ideas we could add to the "zoom". Let us know if you would be interested in your child/children and you being on zoom. We are thinking it might give the kids some fun and maybe give you a break :-) Can't wait to hear what you think!!!
I am attaching a poster with information on the `Nobody`s Perfect Parent Program` via ZOOM. Have a look, if it`s something you are interested in, let us know. We will begin Tuesday, February 9th at 10:00 am Have a great day!!! Minnie

Winter Car Safety Tips. WINTER CAR SAFETY TIPS FROM GET PREPARED GOVERNMENT OF CANADA AND TRANSPORT CANADA HAVE AN EMERGENCY CAR KIT (CHECK OUT www.getprepared.gc FOR THINGS TO INCLUDE IN THE KIT). 1. SLOW DOWN! 2. KEEP THE GAS TANK TOPPED UP 3. GET WINTER TIRES... 4. SEE AND BE SEEN (CLEAR ALL SNOW AND ICE FROM THE HOOD, ROOF, WINDOWS, AND LIGHTS). 5. TOP UP WINDSHIELD (FILL UP ON WINTER WASHER FLUID RATED IN THE -40 TEMPERATURE RANGE AND REPLACE WIPER BLADES THAT STREAK). 6. AVOID USING CRUISE CONTROL ON SLIPPERY ROADS. 7. CHECK FOR LEAKS IN THE EXHAUST SYSTEM. 8. CHECK THE WEATHER BEFORE LEAVING HOME. www.weatheroffice.gc.ca. 9. SNOW AND ICE ARE MORE SLIPPERY AT 0 DEGREES C THAN AT -20 DEGREES C. 10. WATCH FOR BLACK ICE AT TEMPERATURES BETWEEN +4 DEGREES C AND -4 DEGREES C 11. WEAR YOUR SEAT BELT!! 12. AVOID PASSING ANOTHER VEHICLE WHEN WEATHER AND ROAD CONDITIONS ARE BAD. 13. TAKE A FULLY CHARGED CELL PHONE WITH YOU BUT DON’T TALK AND DRIVE. 14. IF YOU GET STUCK IN THE SNOW: - TRY TO STAY CALM AND DON’T STAY OUTSIDE THE CAR. - REGULARLY MAKE SURE THE EXHAUST PIPE IS NOT OBSTRUCTED BY SNOW. IF THE EXHAUST HAS NO WHERE TO GO AND FILTERS BACK IN TO THE CAR, CAUSING CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING. - KEEP A WINDOW ON THE SIDE SHELTERED FROM THE WIND OPEN A BIT, TO GIVE YOU A GOOD SUPPOY OF FRESH AIR. - RUN YOUR MOTOR AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE. - USE A SURVIVAL CANDLE FOR HEAT IF YOU HAVE ONE IN YOUR EMERGENCY KIT, INSTEAD OF THE VEHICLE’S HEATER. - WEAR A HAT, SINCE YOU CAN LOSE UP TO 60 PERCENT OF YOUR BODY HEAT THROUGH YOUR HEAD. - SET OUT WARNING LIGHT OR FLARES IF YOU HAVE THEM. - STAY AWAKE!!! - PUT ON THE DOME LIGHT.
