Happy Tuesday and HAPPY FIRST DAY OF FALL!! There is certainly no question that fall has landed on our doorstep with the crisp mornings and fresh air blowing in our windows. I know many of you have been anxious for an update on changes to guidelines and restrictions for visits and off site outings. With every change and new directive, it takes much discussion, planning and policy changes to make the changes possible for a safe and healthy visit....Continue reading

Monday wellness trip: GET OUTSIDE! nature is known to improve a person's psychological well being. Try to get outside a little bit each day. There is no bad weather, just bad preparation and poor clothing choices :P A rainy day can be enjoyable if you have the right clothes.

Monday wellness tip- Try to add some focused breathing into your daily routine. There are many mobile apps or youtube videos that can help you get started. But to begin, try breathing in slowly for 4 seconds and breathing out for 4 seconds. Counting the seconds helps to keep your mind from wandering and may bring you some relaxation.

FRIDAY UPDATE Hello everyone!! Hoping that this email finds all of our Kennebec and Kings Way families well and enjoying this beautiful summer we have had!! As some of you may already be aware, family visitation at the homes is changing. We will now be able to offer a Designated Caregiver visitation starting next Wednesday at both homes. Public Health and Provincial Guidelines have outlined that each resident can designate 2 family members as support to assist... in maintaining their loved ones mental and physical health ( these 2 designated persons must remain the same and cannot change from visit to visit). The home will have designated visitation times for the support person of 11am-1pm and 4pm-6pm. Visits can be up to 2 hours in length. Visitation continues to be by appointment only, and visits will take place in the residents room. Each support person will be educated in mask and hand hygiene and any other safety visiting practices the home deem necessary. We will once again be communicating with the sponsor only to set up this new type of visit in the next few days. Please remember that we cannot take calls from other family members asking to have a visit also. The family must arrange for who will be visiting their loved one with the sponsor. In order for us to roll this visitation schedule out, all indoor/outdoor visits will pause until we can get an idea of how effective this new process will be We would appreciate any feedback or ideas that families may have. If you could please email the Directors of Care with your comments: [email protected] and [email protected] Have a great long weekend!!!

TUESDAY, JULY 28, 2020 UPDATE Good Afternoon! We are happy to share with you a few changes to the visitation guidelines in Phase 2 of the visits with your loved onesSTARTING THIS WEEK... PHASE 2 CHANGES: INDOOR visits can now have 2 visitors and those 2 visitors DO NOT NEED TO BE THE SAME PEOPLE EACH TIME. The number of visits at the homes each day have also been increased and we are working to add visits to a manageable number. All previous infection control restrictions remain in place and the process for visits is unchanged (ie., must wear masks, physical distancing still required, visits are by appt only, screening questions upon arrival, inside visits require temp checks , only 2 visitors per visit, etc). It is very important to be mindful of your visit times Please show up for your visit a few minutes before the set time to ensure your visit can start on time. Also it is important to end the visit after 20 minutes to allow for proper disinfecting of the area and to prepare for the next family visit. CHECK THE DATE! If you are unsure if that day is the right day for the visit - please call and double check your day and time. Thank you all for your continued show of support, appreciation, and patience as we all continue to navigate these unchartered waters of COVID-19 together. Stay safe and stay hydrated this week with the current heat advisories!! Hugs to you!
