On This Day in 2009 Tiger Leaping Gorge in the Yunnan province of southwestern China is one of the deepest canyons in the world with a drop of 3,800 meters - It’s is often referred to as the Grand Canyon of China. A full day hike with incredible views and scenery. My first two weeks in China were quite eye opening - Not many Westerners visited Southern China 11 years ago and I was made to feel like quite the celebrity, being starred at and locals stopping me in my tracks so t...hey could pose in a photo with me - I’m sure they look back now at those photo’s very confused. Barely any English spoken, signs and menus all in Chinese which made for quite the experience, but one I loved. Such a beautiful and fascinating Country. . . On This Day in 2009. Inspired by #TopGear - Whilst Vietnam was on my bucket list, the majestical Ha Long Bay was not (as I’d never heard of it!) until it was featured on the hit UK TV show. A 3day/2night cruise on one of the luxury junk boats - Luxury being in the form that the boat only had 7 guests as opposed to 25 in some cases. A UNESCO World Heritage site, the bay is dotted with almost 2,000 limestone islands and inlets, most of which are uninhabited. Amazing sunsets, ka...yaking, delicious seafood lunch on a secluded beach - All in all it totally lived up to expectations. On This Day in 2009 - Sunrise over Angkor Wat (City of Temples), the ancient Capital of the Khmer Empire in Cambodia. Sometimes it’s worth waking up early... I dragged my butt out of bed at 4am and hopped on a tuk-tuk from my hotel in Siem Reap to arrive at the entrance of Angkor Wat before 5am.... The reflection pool is the place to be to watch the sun rise since you can see both the silhouette and the reflection on the water with the sun rising behind it. It is a crazy popular spot for tourists, so you have to arrive early to claim your spot. It was a cloudy morning and things weren’t looking too promising and then the clouds broke a little just as the sun rose up above the horizon.
