Happy Halloween from KRC staff. Lots of giggles. Visits from ghouls, Jelly Belly's, a Smartie Pants, a boo-ti-ful witch, and a spider dog caught in it's owners web.

Happy Birthday Canada from all of us at KRC

Kings Riverside Court 29.01.2021

Happy Mother's Day Weekend Another celebration that requires us all to do things a little differently than we have in the past. We remind everyone that we continue to be closed to the public. We are accepting parcels, packages, treats, and flowers at the front desk area. The front desk is where all drops off should happen - please do not meet up with the loved one at side entrances. We really need to use one point of entry for the building. Please sanitize your hands at ...the entrance before coming into the building. Please help us keep your loved ones staff. We know this is difficult and hard. Given the last few weeks, most of us feel like we want to hold our people close to us, but now is not the time to break the 6 feet of physical distancing order set out by public health. Please comply with these restrictions. We've got a fun little project happening over the next few days for our residents. Get them to tell you all about it. Word on the street is, there might be chocolate bar prizes on the line. Everyone here is doing well and we're very thankful to all for helping us keep safe. Happy Mother's Day weekend.

Whew, the last day of the month. Not sure where April went but today we sent it packing with a salute to all of the Super Hero's out there. The residents took up the challenge and some of the staff did as well. We had some traditional super hero's show up and some . . . um . . .more original super hero's who appeared. Thanks to residents, families, and staff who DEFINITELY have been our Super Hero's!

Hello Friends of KRC, An update to let you know we remain free of COVID - 19. This is due in part from the excellent advice, guidance, of support of Nova Scotia Public Health, dedicated workers, and compliance from our residents and their families. Thank you for sharing in our efforts to keep KRC residents safe. We know this is hard on everyone but the efforts and sacrifices being made by many are making a difference and we want to thank you for helping us. We continue to a...sk our residents to not go into stores, pharmacies, banks, etc. We do have a "runner" available Monday through Friday should anyone need anything picked up or errands run. Jason's Independent Grocery store staff are doing a wonderful job in processing grocery orders which they deliver to the building on Tuesdays. Residents are required to bring their grocery list down to the front desk on Monday preferably by noon. You can help us by reminding your person of the deadline. Residents have enjoyed some of our fun and silly days in April. Jelly Beans, Bubbles, Colouring, Easter bonnets, purple day, wearing things inside out day, and "Wear Red" day seemed to help occupy our minds and kept us smiling. We have more fun planned in May but you'll have to watch our page to see what we are up to next. There is no denying that the residents are finding the days long. We had a really great visit from some young bubble blowers in our courtyard area which some of the residents had fun watching. Our building remains closed to the public and we have to be very careful with what we accept into the building but our sidewalks could use some chalk art if anyone out there feels so inclined. If anyone has questions or needs clarification on any of our procedures, protocols, or is having trouble connecting with your person, please give us a call and we will do our best to help. .

There are some familiar faces in this video. Big shout out of thanks to the Kentville Business Community for pulling this project together while we stay apart.

Hello Family, Friends, and Supporters of KRC - Hoppy Easter weekend! We wanted to send out a little note to let everyone know that all KRC residents remain safe & healthy. It will be a very different Easter for many of us. We want you to know that we recognize that many of you will be away from your families at this special time and that will be difficult. Phone calls will have to be enough for this year....Continue reading

So incredibly thankful for caring, helpful, and generous community partners. Sometimes it takes a village but in this case it takes a caravan of shopping carts to help each resident get their grocery orders. Thank you Jason's Independent staff.

Are there any family members following this page that would like us to try and set up a FB video or facetime opportunity. If you could send this page a message, we're willing to try and get something set up soon.

I missed posting an update on Friday - sorry about that everyone. We remain closed to the public except for those receiving VON nursing or home support services. Jasons Independent Grocery is delivering on Tuesday and they have gone from filling 5 or 6 orders to now 32. Jenn and Lisa have been great to drive them over and unload them in the front foyer by the mailboxes. Our staff takes it from there. If you could help us remind the residents that grocery orders should be r...eceived by noon on Monday, that allows for Jasons to get some of the orders filled early which helps Tuesday go a little smoother. We continue to send a runner out for things that might be needed on a daily basis so if there is something that your person REALLY needs, please get them to contact the front desk by noontime Monday through Friday. The staff continue to advise, support, guide the residents and I could not be more proud of them and their efforts. If there was ever any doubt that your loved one chose the right place to retire, their efforts throughout this event clearly reflect how much they care. They continue to approach me each day with new thoughts or ideas on how or what we can do to put another level of care in place while maintaining safety. The residents received their monthly newsletters on Thursday. In it was a page or two of Covid 19 Dos and Dont. We are asking residents not to visit with each other in apartments however it is fine for them to come out and go for a walk in the hallways and around town. We are asking them all not to go into stores. If they need something, we are happy to send our runner. If residents find they are in need of companionship, there are plenty of common spaces for them to chat with each other while maintaining the 6 feet of distance. All recreational events remain cancelled. We have made up themed days for our monthly calendar and while the staff made sure I got pranked on April Fools Day, the next day was Thank You note day. Residents received a Thank You note and could have written it to anyone; the mail carrier, the drug store/grocery personnel, their family members, many of them came back to our staff. These notes are now displayed proudly on our wall in the staff room for all employees to see. It was heartwarming to say the least and some staff found themselves with leaky eyes. Some photos for you to see included in this posting. Your family has become our family and we are trying so hard to make sure everyone remains safe. I will try to update again this week. Stay safe, be healthy, keep moving, and keep the phone calls coming. Krista

COVID 19 UPDATE March 27, 2020 Hello Residents & Friends of KRC, We wanted to update you all on any new developments inside of KRC. To date, all KRC residents remain COVID 19 symptom free at this time. ... Operations within the building are feeling different to all of us but we want you to know that we are here for you. Dietary Supports are reporting that the noon hour meal deliveries are going smoothly. Residents are meeting our Dining Room servers at their apartment doors and some of you have created a little tray or system to receive your meals. I hope you are enjoying the noon hour knock The Province released details of possible community spread yesterday, March 26th. This means that social distancing must continue as well as the limiting groups of people to no more than 5. What does this mean for KRC and its residents? Unless otherwise told by a staff to stay in your apartment, you may still visit each other but please keep a distance of 6 feet apart Please do not gather in groups larger than 5 people and if you do gather, please make sure you keep your distance Be mindful that when you touch a surface, you should wash your hands If you need anything from a store, please call the front desk by noon. We will have our runner go out and get it for you. Please do not give staff cash, cheques, or bank cards. Please call or come see Carol at the front desk to make arrangements for payment of items. There will be no recreation activities scheduled for the month of April. There most likely will be changes and adjustments to the housecleaning schedules. It is unknown at this time what those changes will include but I am confident that flexibility will be required by our residents. Laundry rooms are still available for your use (after 3 pm on the weekdays -anytime on the weekends)

A notice to family & friends of KRC, In light of today's announcement from our provincial government declaring a State of Emergency, please see the outline below on the changes KRC will be putting into place beginning tomorrow. What does this mean for you as a resident of KRC? It means that you can still go out for a walk.... It means that you should not go into a store unless it is absolutely necessary. It means that there will be no further coffee service on Mondays, Wednesday, & Friday until further notice It means that we will no longer be eating in the Dining Room All meals will be delivered to your apartment doors. The menu will remain the same as issued in your monthly menus. Meal delivery will begin at 11:30 on floors 1, 2, & 3 of the original side of the building. Those living in Phase 2 part of the building will receive their meals around 12 noon. There will be no tea & coffee served. Please make that on your own. If you wish to order from the Static Menu, you must notify the kitchen by 10 am If there are special meal considerations you need, please notify the kitchen by 10 am At this time, I am unsure what impact this will have on our Recreation Programs. We do ask that if you do leave the building and come back in, please sanitize your hands. We would really appreciate if you didnt leave this building to go to other peoples homes during this time. Please know, that if you choose to leave and go socialize with other people outside of this building, you may be asked to self isolate in your own apartment. If you need something, please let the front desk know by 12 noon. Our staff runners will be assigned to go out and get what you need. It will be delivered to your apartment but no cash will be accepted. It will be added to your Supplemental Service invoice given to you at the end of the month or if you have an account at the store where it is purchased it can be added to your account there. Grocery Delivery will remain on Tuesday. Please have your orders to the front desk by 4 pm Monday. I understand that many of you and your family members are anxious. We are here and we are trying our best to ensure that you have a safe living environment. We must all do our part to help keep each other safe. Thank You to our staff who remain committed to helping us as we navigate through this uncertain and dynamic time.

Wanted to let everyone know that we remain healthy, safe, warm, and fed during this unprecedented time. Phone calls help residents not feel so isolated. In case family or friends are wondering what we are doing to help #flattenthecurve, please read the attached.

A little note to update everyone on KRC's status. All residents are feeling well and staying healthy. We are very thankful to those of you who are complying with our "no admittance policy". We are safe, warm, and well fed today with a traditional Irish meal of corn beef and cabbage. There was also a sighting of a leprechaun earlier today.

Join us for our regular Membership Meeting on Wednesday, June 26th at 7:00 pm, at our NEW LOCATION!! We're excited to announce that our meetings will now be held at Kings Riverside Court, and we look forward to the welcoming atmosphere that this lovely facility offers. The program for our June meeting will be a presentation of a 80-year old street map of Kentville, circa 1938, to our Society. The map was hand-drawn by the late Bill Chase and he numbered every retail store,... every building, and every residence he placed in his map, and included an index to them. The map will be presented by Chase's niece, Joan Jefferson, and nephew, Bob Masters, and there will be an opportunity for discussion and to ask questions. This will be an interesting evening, and we hope to see you on June 26th at 7:00 pm, at Kings Riverside Court, 125 Webster Street, Kentville. Lynn Pulsifer Kentville Historical Society
