Team Tuesday! Alex Hutcheson OFC - Personal Trainer Alex’s passion for fitness began in high school where he spent most of his time in the local gym. This led him to attend Fitness and Health Promotion at St. Lawrence College. To some, Alex is a familiar face. This is because he initially completed a 200-hour placement at KATC. ... Alex shadowed Athletic Therapy and fitness classes. It was here that he realized that working in a therapeutic setting was for him. His drive for helping others achieve their goals pushed him to attend Durham College for Massage Therapy. After punishing himself in the gym for years he looks forward to pushing you in the gym to reach your goals. Alex’s training is based on building a platform of stability, endurance, and strength. Alex understands that everyone has different goals and plans to work with you to achieve these. 3 part Forward Flexion Series ! In our daily life we are continuously asked to forward bend. With the forward bend the spine moves best when it can move through each segment (each vertebra of the spine) and then moves into an anterior tilt( the pelvis dipping forward as the hips shift back) These videos will address the movement and training to assist in the forward bend.... First video: Moving through the spine segmentally and practicing the tilt. Staring from the cervical spine, moving into the thoracic and finally the lumbar spine. Complete 5 to 6 times and hold at the bottom for 10 to 20 seconds. Happy Movement Monday! Tune in next week to learn about the anterior tilt of the pelvis and how a band can assist with that :)

Isometric strength is the first type of contraction that to use when addressing injuries or rehabilitation. ... 1. You can control the amount of contraction 2. It is safe and effective In this video we will be focusing on the lower part of the hamstrings using rotation with a slider. Then using isometric contraction in that specific area. Using rotation can help target either side of the hamstring. Hold for 10 to 20 seconds for 5- 8 times. If you push your heel down into the slider it may help to create that rotation as you drag your leg in and to feel the lower part of the thigh.
