It was an absolutely beautiful day to be on the water. Too much wind for Cedar Island, but we got another close look at the Third Crossing, which is progressing quickly. We also saw a lot of swan families, and even had adults and juveniles fly over us, making that distinctive noise with their wings. The paddle back was hard, but there were donuts for some at the end! Thank you for coming out today!
Last paddle of the season this coming Saturday, September 26, from 9:30-11:30. The weather is looking good, so if you own a boat, or can beg or borrow (but not steal) one, then please join us down at the docks!
Hey everyone, only two more days until our send-off for Dave and Sue at Tir Nan Og. The event is this Friday, September 11. Please drop by and stay awhile any time between 7:30 and 9:30. We hope to see you there.
Here are some pictures from our paddle on Cranberry Lake and our BBQ at the locks.
Thank you to all who joined in on the paddle and BBQ at Upper Brewer's Locks. And thank you to David and Sue for arranging for the extra boats to allow all interested members to head out. It was a calm, hot day, with easy paddling, lovely scenery, an impressive eagle's nest, turtles on logs, 1 fish under a kayak, and several herons. After arriving back, we sought shade and had a BBQ, and then everyone went home in search of a shower and a rest. A perfect Sunday!! To those who couldn't come - we missed you, and hope to see you at Dave and Sue's send-off!
We have some important news to share with you. Coach has been posted, so he and Sue will be moving to the UK mid-September for the next few years! We will have a good-bye party for them on Friday, September 11, at Tir-Nan-Og, from 7:30 p.m. This will be an informal event, so please drop by if and when you can. We hope you can join us!
Three boats headed out on Thursday night, and enjoyed an amazing, calm evening paddle. Come join us next Thursday, if you can. We also retired to Tir Nan Og for an after-paddle libation with sweet potato fries (of course), which felt like a little step closer to the old normal...
Coach is on holiday, but we're still heading out on Thursday evenings. Come out and join us. From 6-8, down at the club. We are also in the process of planning our annual August weekend 'do. Stay tuned for details, but pencil August 23 in on your calendar.
Please note that our Cranberry Lake paddle has been postponed due to the weather forecast for this afternoon. Hope to see you on the water at the club next Thursday, instead.
Although it wasn't overly windy on Tuesday night, the waves out on the lake were too high for a safe journey to Cedar Island. We'll try for this destination again, on a calmer evening. Next Thursday, we will be paddling from Upper Brewers Lock. Please check your email for more information about boat arrangements for this outing.
It was a little hot again last night, but after 10 days of heat warnings, we had toughened up and headed out anyway. Our prez switched it up a bit last night. Having found some interesting conveyances in the back of the container he tried first one (too tippy), then another (still tippy, but manageable). In other news, one canoe rescued a lost blow-up boat off the beach. Below a few pictures. Next week we would like to head out under the causeway and head towards Cedar Island for a swim. Date TBC, but will be posted as an event. Stay tuned (and if you haven't come out yet, please do!!).
