As part of our work within the community we serve, we want to make you aware of the need for blood donors through Canadian Blood Services Tomorrow, next week and next month, the need for blood is constant. To ensure Kingston and area can continue to meet the needs of patients, we need everyone who is healthy to book and keep their blood donation appointment for weeks and months ahead. #BloodForLife, #DaysofGiving #CanadasLifeline

We wanted to send out a BIG THANK YOU to Play Gaming & Entertainment! Play! One day, little Charlie decided to slip his collar off and give the outdoor cat life a try! But he's really more of an indoor cat. Luckily, somebody found him and took him to the nearby humane society and after only an hour, he was returned home safe and sound thanks to his HomeSafe tag!... https://bit.ly/3mHOoRV

Another feel-good story to cheer-up your day! "A year ago, I adopted my best friend Henry (formerly Pika). I'm so thankful you were able to bring this joyful pup into my life. I just wanted to share some photos of him from the summer posing in our backyard flowers." - Zoë... Thank you, Zoë for sharing these photos with us! We can really see Henry has found his furever home! If you have ever adopted or fostered an animal from the Kingston Humane Society, we'd love to hear your story! Send us a quick story with a few photos so we can share your wonderful HAPPY TAIL stories and spread a little more joy!

In recognition of Remembrance day we wanted to also remember all the animals that assisted the troops during the war. Meet Warrior Warrior was the horse of Captain Jack Seely during the First World War. Seely and Warrior served throughout the entire war, travelling to France with the British Expeditionary Force (BEF) in 1914 and returning home in the winter of 1918. ... They survived some of the fiercest fighting of the war, on the Somme and at Ypres. Seely and Warrior led men of the Canadian Cavalry Brigade in the last major cavalry charge of the war, at Moreuil Wood in March 1918. Casualties were high a quarter of the men and half the horses were killed. But Warrior escaped unscathed, only to be injured while travelling to his next post. Warrior was dubbed 'the horse the Germans could not kill'. In 2014, 100 years after the war’s outbreak, Warrior was posthumously awarded an honorary Dickin Medal on behalf of all animals who served in the First World War. The Dickin Medal, sometimes referred to as the 'animals' VC', was instituted in 1943 to recognise acts of bravery and devotion to duty by animals during periods of war or conflict. You can read more about other brave and amazing animals that assisted during the war below. #WeRemember #LestWeForget

"It’s only been a few days since we welcomed this sweet boy home but he has already settled right in! He was a little shy on his first day but that didn’t last too long. He loves to snuggle up while I work and normally lies by my feet or on my desk. Of course, I had to make it a bit more comfortable for him so now he has a nice comfy spot to nap.... We are so in love with our little Java! Thank you for a wonderful adoption experience." Natalya & Matt We're not crying.....you're crying!

It's hard to describe the appreciation we have for Officer Sean McCaffrey who year-after-year raises the most money for our Big Paws event. Thank you just doesn't seem nearly enough. This year, for the first time in 10 years, Sean was walking without Rupert who passed away last November. How appropriate is it that Sean is the first winner of The Rupert Award, presented to the Big Paws participant that raised the most money. From all of us and from the bottom of our hearts, thank you Sean.
