Re-posted from ON THE RADAR, a publication of Community Legal Education Ontario (CLEO) The COVID-19 pandemic has caused many tenants to fall behind in their rent. For some, the best choice might be to work out an agreement with their landlord so they have time to pay back what they owe. This month's On the Radar describes some key things about repayment agreements. [ 782 more words ] http://kclc.ca//rent-repayment-agreements-can-pose-risks-/
The eviction ban is being lifted on August 4, 2020 and the law has changed as well. Call the legal clinic at 613-541-0777 or complete the online intake form at https://kclc.ca/contact/ for information specific to your situation. Be sure to seek legal advice before agreeing to a repayment plan for rent owing. Not following the terms could lead to you being evicted without having a hearing.
If you find yourself in an eviction situation there are resources to help you, like the Kingston Community Legal Clinic. Landlords can not evict you without going to the Landlord and Tenant Board.

Good news! The CERB questions and answers page has been updated. (Actually, it’s been completely reorganized and looks totally different see the website Canad...a.ca), and it finally answers the "can I get disability benefits and CERB at the same time" question directly: Can I get the Canada Emergency Response Benefit if I am receiving disability benefits? *Yes, provided you stopped working for reasons related to COVID-19 and meet the other eligibility criteria.Disability benefits do not affect eligibility to the Canada Emergency Response Benefit. Does the money I receive through my disability benefits count toward the requirement for $5000 in income? *No. Funding received through disability benefits does not count toward the $5000 in income. The income of at least $5,000 may be from employment and/or self-employment. For those who are not eligible for Employment Insurance you may also include maternity and parental benefits under the Employment Insurance program and/or similar benefits paid in Quebec under the Quebec Parental Insurance Plan as part of the calculation for income.
