The eviction ban is being lifted on August 4, 2020 and the law has changed as well. Call the legal clinic at 613-541-0777 or complete the online intake form at https://kclc.ca/contact/ for information specific to your situation. Be sure to seek legal advice before agreeing to a repayment plan for rent owing. Not following the terms could lead to you being evicted without having a hearing.

Good news! The CERB questions and answers page has been updated. (Actually, it’s been completely reorganized and looks totally different see the website Canad...a.ca), and it finally answers the "can I get disability benefits and CERB at the same time" question directly: Can I get the Canada Emergency Response Benefit if I am receiving disability benefits? *Yes, provided you stopped working for reasons related to COVID-19 and meet the other eligibility criteria.Disability benefits do not affect eligibility to the Canada Emergency Response Benefit. Does the money I receive through my disability benefits count toward the requirement for $5000 in income? *No. Funding received through disability benefits does not count toward the $5000 in income. The income of at least $5,000 may be from employment and/or self-employment. For those who are not eligible for Employment Insurance you may also include maternity and parental benefits under the Employment Insurance program and/or similar benefits paid in Quebec under the Quebec Parental Insurance Plan as part of the calculation for income.
