Kingston Unitarian Fellowship 08.11.2020

Hi everyone, This week with the kids we did a small Thankfulness activity that I would like to share with everyone who couldn't make it. What you will need is: - 5 popsicle sticks, each one a different colour (Green, red, yellow, blue, and purple) - A bag to put the popsicle sticks in ... - A chart like the one I have shared indicating what question goes with each colour (You can modify this to include whatever questions you would like) Once you've put the popsicle sticks in the bag individuals take turns picking one out and answering the question associated with it. This way everyone can practice thinking about the different aspects of their life they are thankful for

[Image description: Dark blue sky in twilight over an image of shadowed trees. Text reads: May we love for return, who long for repair, mend the tender strands of connection, between each other, the world and those parts of ourselves buried deep. Let us begin, once more, the work of welcome, of forgiveness, of renewing this weary-worn world. Come friends, a new day, a new story, awaits!]

I hope everyone has been having a great weekend and are getting excited for tomorrows RE time (10:30-11:15/30). I wanted to talk to you all a little bit about what we'll be doing tomorrow. 2020 has been a big year in terms of fighting for peoples rights and bringing to attention the flaws in our own systems in regards to racism and discrimination. In RE's curriculum this year we are focusing on acceptance and promoting diversity. With this we will have a lesson each month th...at is specifically dedicated to the importance of de-centering whiteness. Tomorrows first lesson will focus on teaching what racism is and how as UU's it is our responsibility to treat everyone with equal kindness and respect. I also strongly encourage parents to continue to enforce these lessons and make it part of their daily lives to educate their children the importance of inclusion and equality. I'm looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow and don't forget if you aren't already apart of our RE time please email [email protected] so I can send you the zoom link. See more
