If you are looking for companionship in these strange and isolating times why not get double your pleasure? Adopt a pair of cats. Most rescues including EHS ado...pt kittens as pairs - this is a practice done to set the kittens up for the best possible life. As kittens the pairs bounce their high energy off of each other and learn proper cat manners. They will, hopefully, live long and happy lives with a friend always at their side. The benefit to you is you aren’t their sole focus, you can curb bad habits like play aggression etc simply by having two and you get to watch and experience their bond which can be equally entertaining and heartwarming. Many adult cats that have been single since kittenhood - may have unwanted behaviours, are definitely not used to furry companionship and depend solely on you as their source of entertainment, love and affection. This is why we highly recommend adopting pairs - whether they are kittens or adults a pair can offer you so much. Talk to your friends, follow multi-cat homes on instagram and you will notice there is so much joy in adopting a pair of cats. Watching them snuggle and be sweet can fill you with joy just as watching them play fight and romp can be entertaining. Over the years we have adopted many pairs of cats who definitely bring joy to their families and in the case of our alumnis Deen and O’Malley, Eleanor and Brody, and PB and Jay allow us a glimpse into their lives via instagram. At the moment EHS has several pairs of cats that must be adopted together, known as bonded pairs, as well as many cats who aren’t necessarily bonded but would benefit from being adopted into a multi-cat home. We have determined through their histories and observation that it would be detrimental to separate them or for them to be alone. Often this means they get overlooked by people who are set on being a single cat home. Sometimes adopters haven’t considered the benefits of adopting a pair and fear that it would be too much for them. We believe that in the long run the pros of adopting a pair of cats are greater than any cons.
