Food is medicine! If you find yourself feeling sluggish or in a fog, try incorporating some of these nutritional tips for better brain power throughout the day. Breakfast - Raw cacao is great for your brain in the morning, helping to wake it up by increasing blood flow to the area! Try it in smoothies, or oatmeal.... Lunch - Greens and reds are ideal for lunchthat is, leafy green veggies like kale, spinach and ripe avocados as well as red peppers and beans. Dinner - Feeling fishy? Good! Quality seafood like wild salmon and tuna are great sources of protein and Omega-3s, which not only decrease stress but can also improve your mood. Sometimes, the best thing to do when we’re feeling stressed is to stop and stretch. One of our favourites is child's pose. To do it, release tension in your lower back by kneeling on the floor and bringing your feet together.... Open your legs at the knees. Sit back and walk your arms forward on the floor as your chest lowers to the ground. Take a few deep breaths as needed. Feeling better now? What's your favourite stretch? #healthtiptuesday #torontohealth #torontowellness

This #healthtiptuesday, we're talking nutritional health. Whether you're trying to eat more vegetables, cutting down on carbs, or are gluten free, there are so many options for pasta dishes! Here are three alternatives to gluten pasta:... 1. Spaghetti Squash: Very yummy with any type of tomato sauce! 2. Zoodles: These are spiralized zuchini noodles. They are shapped like a curly spaghetti noodles but are made of zuchini! 3. Eggplant Lasagna: Instead of noodles, use eggplant slices in your lasagna. This is a great way to sneak in more veggies and avoid noodles! Which on are you going to try?

Happy #heathtiptuesday! We wanted to share a few EASY core exercises that can help to support your lower back. These can be great to do if you're looking to keep your back strong, especially with so many of us still working from home. 1. Modified Curl-Up: Lie on your back with one knee bent and the other straight. Place your hands under the arch of the low back. Start by bracing your abdomen by bearing down through your belly. Lift your shoulder blades off the ground about 3...0 while keeping your neck and spine in line. Make sure your chin remains tucked. Complete 3 sets of 10 to 12 curl-ups. Switch legs and repeat. 2. Side Bridge: Lie on your side and prop yourself up on your elbow, which should be placed directly under your shoulder. Keep your legs straight, and put your top foot on the ground in front of your bottom foot. Place your top hand on your bottom shoulder. Maintain the natural curve of your spine, brace your abdomen, and lift your hips off the ground. Hold for 8 to 10 seconds and repeat 3 times on each side. 3. Bird Dog: Begin on your hands and knees with your hands under your shoulders and your knees under your hips. Squeeze your gluteal muscles. Lift your right arm straight in front of you until it is level with your shoulder. At the same time, straighten your left leg straight back until it is level with your hips. Return to the starting position in a slow and controlled manner and switch sides. Do 3 sets of 8 to 10 repetitions. For more info, visit: https://www.chiropractic.ca//3-easy-core-exercises-to-su/.
