Was happy to be in Berwick yesterday for the announcement of the innovative Smart Grid Project. Congratulations to Equilibrium Engineering and the town of Berwi...ck on this new green, innovative project. It’s a great example of private sector/ government cooperation and lines up with new legislation our government is implementing, setting guidelines and goals for a greener economy and the opportunities that will come with it. I look forward to representing Kings West as we seek out those opportunities, as well as ensure we are environmentally responsible. I will be bringing the story of this project to the floor of the Legislature today! See more

Today, we introduced legislation that will establish fixed dates for provincial general elections for the first time in Nova Scotia. Amendments to the Elections... Act will set July 15, 2025, as the next general election date, with future elections on the third Tuesday of July every four years. Nova Scotians need to have confidence in their electoral system. Having a fixed date will mean predictability and transparency. It will also allow Elections Nova Scotia to better plan for future elections, which can result in significant cost savings to taxpayers. #novascotia #nspoli

I just finished a productive phone call with Justin Trudeau congratulating him on his win and discussing the need for improved healthcare supports. It's timely ...as we continue our Speak up for Healthcare tour. I can assure Nova Scotians that I won't go to the Prime Minister cap-in-hand; I will go to him with concrete solutions and expect real commitments from the federal government to deliver on better access to healthcare and more affordable childcare. #nspoli #cdnpoli

We won’t have good legislation without good consultation. The Rankin Liberals still don’t get it, and their disaster of a Biodiversity Act is just the latest ex...ample. On Thursday, I had an opportunity to speak to the Biodiversity Act (Bill 4) that government introduced, then hastily gutted when it became clear just how vague and punitive it was. We submitted amendments this week seeking to curb the broad, discretionary language in the bill. Landowners deserve clarity around legislation that impacts their livelihoods. This bill is another example of the Liberal government grasping at soundbites without considering the consequences for Nova Scotians. As a Progressive Conservative, I know we can continue to make meaningful progress on the environment and climate change without resorting to fear, deception and division. I hope you’ll check out my remarks.

Yesterday I spent some time visiting with concerned residents in the Black Rock, Waterville areas about the road conditions there. Infrastructure and road maint...enance is one of the foundational roles of the provincial government, and when you hear of school buses not travelling those roads, cars being damaged, parents having to turn down work opportunities to transport their kids, it is very frustrating to say the least. First responders’ ability to get to emergency calls is a big concern as well. Thank you to people like Robyn Martin and others, who are trying their best to get the help for their roads. Engaged citizens are what we need in so many areas of concern! See more
