Pouring over family photos from years gone by can be extremely meaningful when reflecting on your family’s endeavors over the years, while sharing with generati...ons to come. It gives us all a truer sense of our own identities. When those photos are from the First World War era, they become historically priceless! Last year, a citizen dropped off a Photo Album circa. 1912, which they had found, at our EPS Northeast Division station. The black-coloured family album contains a treasure trove of amazing photos from areas around Edmonton dating back to 1919. The pictures include photos of the Dickson Kids Irma, children in Josephburg, a mountain photo of Mt. Wapla from Burgess Pass, dated July 14, 1919, Molodia School and a family photo taken near Lae St. Anne. Photos with names such as Donna Catherine Thompson and Mrs. Haymes can also be found in this family album, including one with the family cat named Tom. Incredible military photos titled Reg Quartermaster and Staff 6th Canadian Reserve Seaford, Sussex, England are also included and dated Feb. 25, 1919, which was taken at Kinmel Park. Last year, EPS shared this story with media, who broadcast it to their Edmonton viewers/readers with the intent on reuniting this family heirloom with its rightful owner9s). Unfortunately, the album has yet to be claimed. Hence, we wanted to try again, with the hope of someone finally recognizing some of the details we’re sharing here today. If we are unable to reunite this album with its family, the EPS will provide to the Alberta Provincial Archives.
