It’s ok if you don’t have new year’s resolutions. It’s ok if you take your time setting goals. It’s ok if you don’t have a big long list or anything written down yet. The holidays were hard. At first I didn’t expect them to be so hard. I saw other people’s posts about grieving people who were missing at Christmastime and thought I was doing fine. Until the week after Christmas. That’s when it got heavy, and hard. Kids home, no schedule, no time alone. Missing my ...dad and hurting for my mom. I think many of us are grieving a little in some way. For things taken away, lost. It’s ok if you’re not ready to jump into goal-mode. And it’s also ok if you are. It’s ok if you set one little goal. Or start in February. Or after the kids go back to school. It’s ok! Do what works best for you. Have you ever made a big ambitious list of things that would be nice to accomplish and then by December had no idea where the list was or forgot to achieve any of it? I’ve slowly learned what works for me and the big ambitious list of things I’m not really willing to do but think I should isn’t it. I have had an idea of what I want to accomplish in 2021 for the past couple of months but I’m narrowing it down and taking my time making a plan this weekend. I am doing my best to set myself up for success, even if it happens after January 1. Because it’s just a date. And it’s ok. Have you set any goals yet? : @meghanholtphotography

Thanks in part to all of you there was so much good in such a crazy year. Thank you for following along and making this an awesome place to spend time and get to know you. Thank you for trusting me with your photos - whether for your business or of your family. Nothing beats the high of a shoot gone well and the feeling of capturing a family or helping a brand grow. I can’t wait for 2021 shoots!! I have a list of ideas that I am so excited to work on in 2021 but I’m putting ...them on the shelf for the next few days to play Christmas bingo and MarioCart and work on still getting some vegetables into our diet. Merry Christmas!!

3 quick productivity hacks to make this season easier: 1. When you make dinner, make two of whatever it is, and freeze for another night. Plan what you’re having for dinner in the morning or the night before. 2. Use a timer or turn on a favorite song to help you get a task done that you’re not excited about. Try to get it done before the song is over if it’s a small task. I may or may not use this often. ... 3. Circle the top three things you need to get done today, and focus on those first - check off the big rocks first! Or, cross three things off that you can let go of or delegate. This is hard when you feel like you need to get all the things done, I know! It might be something big or it might be the chocolate drizzle on the cookies for the neighbors... #somethinghadtogo What tips/hacks are helping you right now?? Awesome board: @beyondmeasureboards

3 content creation mistakes that almost everyone makes: 1. Shooting one photo every time you need one. We’re all guilty of this when we haven’t planned ahead! It wastes more time and is more stressful than batching and shooting a bunch at one time. 2. Not thinking ahead. You shoot a bunch of photos, you’re posting and then oops! What are you going to post for that holiday coming up? Or that giveaway you planned with some other businesses?... 3. Looking at what everyone else is doing. This isn’t always bad! But what is unique about YOUR brand? What are you trying to show off about YOUR products and YOUR process and how do you want to connect with YOUR customers? Are you guilty? Don’t worry we’ve all been there. But I love walking clients through the planning process of brand shoots because we cover all of this and make sure you’re getting all of the photos you need so your content is covered, and that they are true to your brand and in line with your style (yes, you get to be picky ). Send me a DM with your questions (or take a look at details & pricing at the link in my profile)! See more

Scheduling apps - do you use one? A scheduling app is an app that lets you plan out content in advance by creating and saving posts, and setting a time to post it. You can let the app auto post for you, or send you a reminder when it’s time so you can do it manually! They are all slightly different but achieve basically the same goal - making IG easier! Even if you don’t schedule out your posts, a scheduling app can store your drafts or photos so that when... you do go to post they are all right there. Most are starting to include IG story scheduling, too. To post from a scheduling app you typically choose your image, tap a post button, and the app saves that image and caption to your camera roll and clipboard. It then takes you over to IG, where the photo is the latest one to tap on in your photos and then you just paste your text. Super easy and I highly recommend. These apps also include analytics to help you out with content planning and features like answering comments from within them. @planoly is the app I currently use. It is great for a visual person like me because I can drag and drop photos around and see what they will look like posted. They also have a free plan to start with 30 uploads per month. @Plann has an integration with Canva which would make creating graphic posts and stories really easily! It’s one of the top ranked schedulers. It also lets you drag images around and arrange them easily and starts with a free plan. @Later is another one and I haven’t tried it so I can’t tell you much about it! @Tailwind is what I use for Pinterest and you can also use it for IG so you only have one piece of software. (If you want to utilize Pinterest, I can’t recommend Tailwind enough) What do you use to plan posts? What do you love about it? I’d love to hear more about other apps - let’s gather some info here and help each other out. Tap the bookmark icon to save for later! See more

How to take your own photos for IG and stop scrambling to post: 1. Look ahead at the next 4-6 weeks (if that’s overwhelming, start with 1-2!) 2. Identify any promotions, holidays, giveaways or new product launches coming up. 3. Make a list of photos you need. ... 4. Set aside a time to take photos. I suggest late-morning/early afternoon because that’s typically the best light when using a window. 5. Take photos and edit, then load into your scheduling app Tomorrow we’ll talk scheduling apps! Do you use one? What questions do you have about them?

Tip for today: Plan ahead! :) Valentine's Day is only about a month away - make sure you know what you're doing for any sales, specials, etc and get those photos ready! The same thing goes for any other holidays or big days in February - Super Bowl, National Pizza Day, Family Day, Chinese New Year, National Random Acts of Kindness Day, religious holidays, etc. I'm not suggesting posting for every single holiday, just to plan ahead for the ones you will be posting about! What will you be posting about in February? More info on connect: www.kinseyholt.com/connect
