Kinsmen Club of Lindsay 13.12.2020

Yesterday, our Toonie at the Till event wrapped up at Canadian Tire on Kent Street. Out Mystery Shoppers, (or not so mystery with our jackets proudly displayed), showed up en masse to give the CSR’s, who helped promote this for us, a big send off and to show our appreciation. We would like to send a huge thank out to store owner Larry McCaw for permitting us to run this event again this year, and to the staff for promoting it for us. Without you, and your staff, the event would not have been the success it was. Thank you Canadian Tire!!!!

Toy Mountain 2020 has come to a close. Thank you to everyone who has made a donation of toys or a financial one. With this year being hard on a lot families, a lot harder than most years, we put the challenge out to the Community as a whole, and you did not disappoint us. It is so heartwarming to know that as a Community, we will band together and help those who need it. If you were unable to stop by and would still like to make a donation, our barrels are still out in the local businesses for another week or so, and Toonie at the Till wraps up tomorrow at Canadian Tire on Kent Street. We cannot thank you enough for the show of support we have received. We are all very proud of the Community we live in. Thank you.

Terry Foster, our resident Santa, was unable to make the trip to deliver his toys this year, but he sent his Elf, Ashtyn and her mom to come and drop off the donation for him. Toy Mountain wouldn’t be the same without Terry’s presence year after year, and we missed seeing him today, but his dedication and support mean a lot to us. Thank you Terry, and Ashtyn, for helping brighten Christmas morning for the kids in our Community.

Homestead Oxygen presented to our Toy Drive a cheque for $1500, along with a large amount of toys for the kids on Christmas morning! This is a huge donation that will go along way to buying presents for the older and youngest kids, who often get overlooked in the donations. The staff of Homestead Oxygen are seen here presenting the cheque to Kin members Mike Thornton and Paul McPherson. Thank you Homestead Oxygen for such a generous donation!!!

Last week, we were the recipients of a very generous donation from the Kawartha Lakes Food Source, of some industrial racking for Toy Central. To say we were excited is an understatement. These racks have already come in so handy and sorting will be so much easier going forward. Thank you for such and incredible donation @Kawartha Lakes Food Source!!!

Thank you to everyone who came out and supported our first Trunk or Treat event today. The response from the members of our community is always amazing, and today was no different. A very special thank you to Larry McCaw, owner of Canadian Tire Lindsay, for providing the space in his parking lot for us to do this. Up next, will be Toy Mountain!!! Stay tuned for details!

Kawartha Lakes Honda has filled their barrel already! Go on down and see them if you’re out and about, and consider dropping in a toy for the children of Kawartha Lakes. Nothing makes Christmas morning better than watching the smile on a child’s face as they open their presents; and with all of these donations, there will be some big smiles. Thank you to everyone who has donated.
