We’re sorry to advise that late yesterday Fraser Health’s Medical Health Officer declared on outbreak on the 3rd floor of South Court. This affects assisted living and independent residents who live on the 3rd floor, as well as staff who work in the building. The 1st and 2nd floors are not in outbreak. No other KinVillage buildings are affected. A resident of the 3rd floor of South Court was recently confirmed with COVID-19, having contracted the virus while out in the ...community. After swabbing two other residents on the weekend, we were notified that one of these, who lives on the 3rd floor, also tested positive. This evidence of transmission occurring in the building resulted in an outbreak, limited to the 3rd floor, being called. The two COVID-19 positive residents are in isolation in their suites and are being monitored closely and cared for by staff. All remaining 3rd floor residents are being swabbed for the virus today. Any staff member who may have been exposed in South Court will also be swabbed. Thank you for your support and please stay safe!

Staying Cozy This Winter Thanks to the Tsawwassen Boundary Bay Lions! We would like to express our sincere thanks to the Members of the Tsawwassen Boundary Bay Lions Club for the Club’s kind donation of $1,000 to KinVillage’s West Court Care Home. As we have done in recent years, we have once again used the Lions’ gift to enhance the furnishings in our care home. We recently purchased a new electric fireplace for the corner lounge on the 2nd floor. This is an area enjoyed by ...residents and the fireplace contributes to making it a more warm and welcoming space. Our new fireplace looked terrific decked out for Halloween and we are looking forward to makIng this area the centrepiece of our Christmas decor! Thanks again Lions!

Hello South Delta, We are relieved to report no new symptomatic/positive cases in residents nor staff in the past two weeks. We are encouraged by these results but a word of caution as we also know how quickly circumstances can change with this disease. The health and safety of our residents and staff remain our #1 priority. We all know COVID-19 is a highly contagious disease that can be deadly.... KinVillage is appreciative of the support from Fraser Health during this time. The infection prevention specialists, outbreak coordination and staff support were instrumental in helping us manage and now conclude the outbreak. ... We are so pleased to announce that family social visits have started in South Court Assisted Living beginning last week and social visits will start gradually in the Care Home as of TODAY! . For several weeks we have been working hard to create a safety plan for family-social visits that describe how we will meet the practice requirements and established criteria to ensure safety for residents, staff and visitors. In order for this to be successful we ask designated visitor...s to abide by the requirements set forth by KinVillage and to follow staff’s guidance. The safety plan includes the following: - One designated visitor identified by the resident (with assistance from staff if required). - Visits are by appointment as we want to ensure we have sufficient staff available to assist and will be on a rotating basis to ensure residents have had an opportunity for a visit. - Visitors are asked to perform a self-screen for any signs of illness before coming to KinVillage and once at KinVillage will be screened by a staff member. - The visitor is required to wear their own mask at all times while visiting and to perform hand hygiene before and after visiting. - Visitors are asked to practice physical distancing during the visit with the person they are visiting. In some instances we may use plexi-glass as a reminder to practice safe physical distancing. - Visits are held in a designated area that is cleaned in between visits following BC Center for Disease Control Guidelines. As Dr. Henry indicated, we need to move slowly and cautiously. We will be monitoring the visits to ensure everyone’s safety. Thank you for helping us keep KinVillage COVID-19 free to date and for your patience as we thoughtfully prepare to welcome residents’ visitors. Be Kind, Be Calm and Be Safe
