With only a few minor details left to take care of, it is a pleasure to say that the new Camp 23 (Warm-Up Shack) at Gummies Pond is finally complete. And it was christened in in a major way last Saturday (Jan 4) with a Jiggs Dinner that fed 35+ people!!! The entire evening was a great success thanks to the wonderful organization of Nola and Jerry Vincent ... hats off to the two of you on one amazing job and to an amazing night filled with great voices and guitar playing that ...made for a very memorable evening of Music and Friends. As for the camp construction itself, a big Thank You goes out to the numerous volunteers and sponsors along the way which made it all possible. To begin, the Kippen’s Ridge Cabin & Snowmobile Association who initiated and supported this project from its inception. To the boys who oversaw and competed the majority of the construction ... Orvin Roberts, Jerry Vincent, Fred Hewlett, Stedman Rideout and Ben Fudge ... hats off to your hard work and dedication. And to all the others who pitched in along the way ... Neil Penney, Mitchell Jackman, Lloyd Warford, Wylie Winsor, Gail Hewlett, Nola Vincent, Dianne Stein, Desmond Hibbs, Malcolm Hewlett, Walt Joy, Harold Oake, Mike Rolf clarey Roberts , Hank Strickland , paul roberts , mike Williams , claude Rowsell ... and to all those I’m sure I’m forgetting or probably don’t even know about ... we are grateful for all of you. And of course none of this would have taken place without any of our financial sponsors ... Greg Roberts (Mary Browns) ... in memory of his father Ford Roberts Bruce Roberts ... in memory of his father Donald Ole Fur Roberts Jerry Jones (Duralite Diamond Drills) Pete Winsor (Mid-Island Marine and Fabrication Ltd) Brian Henstridge (Henstridge Holdings) And finally to Stedman Ryan for painting and donating the sign on the cabin and to Ford Heath who built the oh so important Out House ...
