Lusting over these tones. This was a 5 hour service and soooo worth it. Full head foilayage- we foiled every hair, then did a root melt + toner. Swipe to see some angles & the before pic. @ New Glasgow, Nova Scotia
A very long & detailed colour correction. I don't normally say things like this but shame on any hairstylist who spends 2 (TWO) SIX hour days on a balayage and leaves it like this. Sometimes it is okay to to say "I'm sorry, I'm not fully comfortable performing that service, perhaps it would be best if you saw somebody else." I was told multiple other horror stories about this appointment but I genuinely do not believe in slandering others so I will not repeat them, nor wil...l I share where this was done. At the end of the day, this after photo is still no where close to what she originally wanted but we had to work with what was already there and the amount of time I had available. She was very pleased with the end result. This year has been tough, finances are tighter and the cost of nearly everything has gone up. The cost of having your hair done twice and then corrected a third time is not one anyone should have to endure. . I used all @redken colour and products on the style. See more
It's cool to be yourself, Even cooler when I get to be in on the fun. I love the opportunity to do something out of the box. Swipe to see the before pic of this punky platinum crop. @redken @oster_professional @ New Glasgow, Nova Scotia
Diamond Braid Half edgy, half boho, half up, half down Perfect for an outdoor wedding/elopement/music festival Thanks @natasha.astylist for the inspiration and @beyondtheponytail for the lesson @ Pictou, Nova Scotia
Did you know? Colour looks different on camera and video ? -I don't have a lengthy explanation for this one because I don't why but feel free to check out the reel I posted last night and see for yourself. Maybe a photographer/video-ographer friend can explain? Pls explain. Either way do we love this rich brunette balayage or wutttt?
A little violet toner never hurt any body. @redken @designmehair @ New Glasgow, Nova Scotia
You read that right It's a very common myth that you should use oils to hydrate dry hair but the fact is, oils don't have any moisture adding properties. What should you be using instead? A deep conditioning hair mask every 3-4 washes. Avoid protein treatments as protein can make your dry hair more brittle and break easier. Follow up with a leave in conditioner and proceed to heat style your hair. What are oils used for? Sealing the hair. If your climate is more dry tha...n your hair the the air will pull moisture out of hair, oils can prevent this as they seal and perform a protective barrier on your hair strand. If there is more moisture in the air (think humid days) your hair will pull moisture into itself causing it to become puffy/frizzy. Oils prevent this in the same way. Many also contain silicones and anti-humectants to help further seal the hair and add a gorgeous shine When should you use oil? On dry hair after heat styling. Some professional brand oils are formulated to be okay for use with heat styling and have added heat protection or polymers to help increase your drying time. Always refer to the use directions on the product you are using to be sure. Did you find this helpful? Let me know below if you've been using oil wrong this whole time or ask me any additional questions. Please share or save this post if you find this information useful. See more

Mo' money, mo' problems does NOT apply when it comes to face framing highlights Do you like a bold money piece or nah? @ Pictou County, Nova Scotia
Another bronde angel created by Reverse Balayage Sarah likes to switch from blonde to dark between seasons so for this look we brought up her blonde highlights and melted a darker base throughout the remaining hair using a demi permanent colour. Demis are great for this technique because they fade softly and are easier to remove when she wants to add more blonde again. They also blend seemlessly with each other and leave a brilliant high shine finish. Reverse balayage is a great choice for adding dimension or going darker while still keeping the ends bright @ New Glasgow, Nova Scotia

What's the secret to keeping your blonde hair healthy & shiny? Regular trims Alternating between full and partial touch up's Keeping lowlights & depth to make the highlights pop Scheduling a toner between touch up's... Purple shampoo Salon quality products and at home treatments Using heat protection when you style ......... Sound intense? That's because blonde is a high maintenance colour but trust me when I say your hair will THANK YOU for it . If you're lost for where to start on products or adding depth, drop a comment below or slide into my DMs and we can chat it out. . . . . #balayagehighlights #sunkissedbalayage #moneypiece #faceframinghighlights #blond #blondhair #highlights #blondhighlights #blondgirl #balayage #blondebalayage #beachblonde #bestofbalayage #mastersofbalayage #balayagist #blendedbalayage #ashblonde #platinumblonde #hairgoals #novascotia #novascotiastylist #newglasgow #newglasgowstylist #canadatopstylist @ New Glasgow, Nova Scotia See more
Benefits of going for that "big chop" Save time on styling (messy top knot doesn't count as styling, sorry) Use less products - they last longer Look more stylish Hair health - no split end left in sight... More hairstyle options - Bob, lob, a-line, blunt, graduated layers, pixie cut etc. More personal compliments-"I love your new hair style! " is better and more sincere then "wow your hair is so long." . Swipe to see before pic Blended highlights were added as well . . . . #highlights #blondehighlights #blond #blondhair #blonde #blondehair #babylights #champagneblond #champagneblonde #beigeblonde #haircut #bigchop #lob #boblob #longbob #shorthairstyle #shorthairstyle @ New Glasgow, Nova Scotia See more
Put that blonde hair dye back on the shelf! It is going to cost you And in more ways than one. Compromise on tone - the truth is the generic 1 formula of most drug store box colour does not fit all. 9 times out of 10 your natural hair colour will not lift enough and you'll end up with banding. Bright orange banding. Factor in artificial colour you already have in your hair? Hope you like red bands too... Strength and integrity of your hair-most of these colours promise high lift and high lift = high ammonia. Ammonia is hard on your scalp and hard on your hair. Previously damaged ends can become dry, crispy and even break off. A lot of times we are afraid to use bleach but more often then not a professional quality bleach with a low volume peroxide will be more gentle on the hair then a high lift, high ammonia, high developer colour Cost of a colour correction - It is ALOT of work to fix a colour job like this and bring it back to something more even toned and blended. Expect to spend hours in the salon and pay a bill upwards of $200.00 (usually more depending on your market location) Many stylists charge hourly for this type of service. Something to consider before reaching for the box to try saving a couple bucks. I promise you, you'll spend alot more on at home care products too when all is said and done. Swipe to see some before and afters of a colour correction I did today, you'll see what I mean about that orange band. More questions? Drop them or send me a DM. Have a great weekend @ New Glasgow, Nova Scotia

Why does a full head of blonde highlights start to look dark and dull? Purple shampoo OVER USE. Purple shampoo is an excellent tool for banishing brass but there is a common myth that it will make your hair lighter. This isn't true. In fact it can build up and cause your hair to look extra ashy, Ash doesn't reflect light as well as warmer tones so the end result is colour looks darker not lighter. I'll say it again ASH DOES NOT EQUAL WHITE. You need to have warmth for balance. We removed her build up and retoned with a violet-gold instead. Swipe to see where we started and let me know if this makes sense below. @ New Glasgow, Nova Scotia
Throwing services I'd love to do into the universe Would you ever try colour block hair? What if I told you it can also be done with natural tones? Let me know what you think?
Balayage & Plants Two things we all love If you wanted this colour you could ask for a honey blonde balayage or a dimensional "bronde". We added dark to platinum for this look but depending on your base it could be done the other way.
