A growing network of Canadian organizations and professionals are exploring Social Acquisitions for Business Recovery (SABR), a strategy that sees conventional ...enterprises transition into social purpose enterprising forms (like a co-op, a social enterprise, a charity, a non-profit, or any combination of the same). Every month, we convene the network to do four things: connect, inform, collaborate, and learn. As L3 winds down its 18-month programming, we assembled people from the entire network to discuss community continuity, tested out some possible participatory budgeting opportunities and discussed what funding might sustain the project and the movement into the future. The battle has been long, but the last ...year held some exciting advances: #Nestlé’s Canadian operations are for sale as part of the divestment of their entire North American operation. (Nestlé announced a proposed sale to Ice River Springs in July of 2020, which fell-through in September.) Doug Ford’s government has proposed legislation that empowers municipalities to provide consent on permits to take water.
