Addictions and mental health is a problem that needs light brought to it. I've struggled with it in the past, as many of you know....I was stubborn and tenacious and made it to the other side. Sadly, my husband and friend did not and passed peacefully in his sleep the other night. Finally at peace, finally free. My dear friend Craig posted this, and I wanted to share it with you......... We have all struggled with our own goals, desires, family, addictions, demons, achievements and failures throughout our life. For some it's more than we can emotionally bear. Addiction can be more powerful than most of us can even imagine. It has destroyed so many lives and crushes so many dreams. It diminishes your self-worth. It doesn't mean that they are any weaker or stronger than anybody else, it just means that we are all vulnerable. Last night I learned that a very close and dear friend lost that battle but he will live on in our hearts and memories of so many that loved him. Ken Petersen was not only a friend but was a brother and I will miss him dearly. Rest in peace my friend. Rest in peace knowing that you were loved by so many. I was writing a little marketing spiel for myself yesterday, which I suck at......So, I referred back to my assignments from the #CNEProgram and came across my Food Philosophy. Part of my philosophy is this great quote - "Live Dirty, Eat Clean" from Dr. Robynne Chutkan. Dr. Chutkan knows everything about the Microbiome! (And if you've followed me for a while, you know that fermenting is one of my favorite things!) What she means by this, is that we shouldn't be afraid o...f a little bit of dirt! It does a body good to get our fingers in the dirt, to grow things, to maybe not have a shower every day (heaven forbid!!!). But think about it, our bodies have a very delicate balance of both pathogenic and non-pathogenic bacteria. And it often doesn't take much to throw that balance out of whack (what is known as Disbyosis). So, get dirty friends! & Have a pet in your house (they bring in all sorts of dirt). But by all means eat clean! A plant based diet, full of different colours, grass fed and pasture raised animal proteins (if that is your thing), Organic and ethically raised crops and animals-----These are all clean eating protocols. Your body knows what it wants and needs! My intention is to share my full food philosophy over the next few days. If you like it great, if not great. Maybe we can learn from each other!
