We completed a very exciting addition to our Winnipegosis Kithouse project last week - the installation of a grid-tied solar PV system. This modestly sized solar system is expected to produce as much energy as is required by the home over the course of the year, making this a Net Zero Home. While the addition of the solar system was relatively easy, achieving Net Zero Energy with such a modest-sized (5.4kW) renewable energy system in this climate requires a very low energy home with specific attention to insulation, air sealing, and orientation with quality windows, doors and ventilation equipment... all covered as part of our Kithouse designs.
