Changing the batteries in your smoke detectors when it’s daylight savings time is a great habit to get into. Make it fun by getting your children involved.
This year, we honour our Brother, retired Captain Lloyd Mitchell. You will not be forgotten.
Happy International's Women's Day to all the dedicated women in the fire service and International Association of Fire Fighters.
A message from our newly retired Brother and Captain, Mike Bovingdon. "I would like to thank each and every person who took the time out of their day to either wish me a happy retirement, join in the parade, make signs and wave out their window! It truly was a special day with the best send off I could have hoped for thanks to Chuck Ferguson and my brothers and sisters at the firehall as well as this community. Also big thank you to the Haisla Nation who welcomed me into their culture and families. It was an honour and a pleasure to serve the community that I was born and raised in."
Congratulations Captain Bovingdon. 31 years of providing leadership and protection to our community. Time to start enjoying some well deserved rest and relaxation.
The Kitimat Fire Department will be celebrating the retirement of Captain Mike Bovingdon with a parade through town, this Sunday, Jan 31st at 4:30 PM. The route is shown in the attached image. Captain Mike Bovingdon has been serving the community of Kitimat for nearly 32 years. The parade is a secret to Mike so please do not speak to him about it. Please join us in commemorating Captain Bovingdon and wishing him well on his next journey by waving to him from your homes while we practice social distancing.
Reminder: Fireworks are permitted on December 31 until 2:00 am on January 1st.
Water Quality Advisory in effect. Pass it along to your loved ones.
Kitimat Firefighters Association recently made a $5,000 donation to the Kitimat Food Bank. We know this year has been especially hard for families who are feeling the effects that this pandemic has created for them. Although Kitimat is currently going through great economic growth, many families have fallen through the cracks due to the increased cost of living. We hope this amount makes a difference to the lives of those who need it most during this holiday season.
Deputy Chief Bizarro and Firefighter Froom honouring our fallen. We are all forever grateful for the scarifies they made for us. Lest we forget.
