Congratulations to the respective King & Queen of KitsFest (11) Beach Volleyball Court. These 2019 Champs battled hard to beat out a list of remarkable players that played unbelievably well this year. The competition was fierce as some of the best beach volleyball players in the country, if not the world showed up. Thanks to Sandy & CMoore ( Sideout Beach Volleyball Club )for their entertaining commentary. KitsFest XII is now officially re-scheduled until next year: August 6 8, 2021 Several factors lead to this (unfortunate but necessary) decision, including: ... ‘Common sense’ dictated that we mitigate all risks associated with the current COVID 19 health crisis Add to this our Provincial Health requirement that all public events in B.C. remain limited to a maximum of fifty (50) persons until further notice and likely throughout the remainder of this summer. CDN / US legislation still requires all citizens to remain self-isolated for (14) consecutive days upon return from crossing any international borders. As you can hopefully see from the above, our Kitsfest hosting options this August basically became impractical. ‘The good news’ is that we can already confirm our August 6-8, 2021 KitsFest XII dates and that all KitsFest teams / participants that were registered to participate this August, 2020 are already each committed to return next August 6-8, 2021: We expect to return in August, 2021 better than ever. Thank you so much for your / your family / your team’s and all our exceptional Kitsfest sponsors, Directors, staff and Park Board / City staff’s understanding, flexibility and loyalty. KitsFest 2019 returns to Kits Beach August 9th - 11th.

This year Urban Rec will be offering five different tournament options in both Coed 6’s and Coed 4’s for your volleyball enjoyment. Play in one tournament or register a team in multiple tournament. The selection of tournaments gives participants the chance to select a time that works best into their weekend and allows them to take in all the great events associated with KitsFest including the King/Queen of the beach and the licensed beach side enjoyment zone! The tournaments will run from 9:00am 1:00pm in the mornings and 1:30pm 5:30pm in the afternoons, allowing you ample time to enjoy the rest of what KitsFest has to offer in 2019!

The Redzone Classic is a hybrid game designed for the beach. I've taken the best parts of popoular flag and touch football, 5 on 5, 6 on 6, 7 on 7, and various flag football styles to form a fast paced, fan friendly beach game. All the various styles will have a chance to showcase their skills, and compete before their peers on the beach. Kitsfest, is the largest outdoor sports festival with DJ's, beer gardens, food trucks, and tons of people watching sports. Its a great way ...to enjoy the last summer sports blast of the summer. It's also a great time to celebrate and bond before the fall football season begins. The Redzone Classic is open to all divisions women, men, coed, U12 and up. All 5 man, 6, man, Top flight and 7 on 7 teams are invited. The playing field will be leveled, time to bring your "A Game"

The 2019 Kitsilano Beach Water Polo 4s Tournament will be held Aug. 10-11th from 7am-12pm, at Kitsilano Beach Swimming Pool. This will be the 5th year that water polo has been a part of Kitsfest, and the event has grown with regards to sophistication and participation every year. It started as a series of informal scrimmages in the bay at Kits Beach, and has become more structured over the years. Last year we were able to secure pool time in the iconic Kitsilano Beach Swimmin...g Pool; which marked the first time that anyone had been granted access to the facility for water polo. The new venue was paramount for the event. Removing the obstacle of working around the tides made it possible to increase the number of games and open the event up to multiple divisions; with different age groups and skill levels. After last year’s success, Vancouver Parks and Recreation has graciously offered to expand our footprint to fit two courts this year; which means even more opportunities for expansion. Last year’s event boasted 8 teams and 3 divisions with around 100 athletes, ranging in age from 12-70+. The 2019 registrations are looking even stronger, currently standing at over 10 teams in 4 divisions, with openings for much more. This truly is a one of a kind event that brings together water polo players from all demographics. Kitsfest Water Polo is a great opportunity for the local water polo community to showcase our sport and to grow Vancouver’s presence as a water polo hub within the Pacific Northwest, Canada and beyond.
