April 30th is only 15 days away, which is the filing deadline in Canada for personal income tax. Filing late can result in late filing fees, and if you owe to CRA, you will start to be charged interest on money owing after this day. If you do owe money and cannot pay the full amount, you can set up payments with CRA. Self-employed filing deadline is June 15th, but any amount owing is still due April 30t. There is still time to get your taxes filed on time! ... #morethanjusttaxes #charteredprofessionalaccountant #letushelpyou #professional #cpa See more

After your income tax is filed and then assessed by the Canada Revenue Agency you will receive a Notice Of Assessment (every tax filer will receive this, whether you owe, get a refund or have direct deposit set up). This Assessment is VERY important. Keep it in a safe place (along with your tax papers). If the assessment is different than what you were told, please talk to whoever filed your income tax return. There could be a variety of reasons why there is a difference: missing slips that were not reported, have a balance owing from prior years, or they could want to see more information from you before they will release certain amounts, etc. If there is a difference, the NOA will explain why. If you have any questions about your tax returns or assessment, please call our office and schedule an appointment to go over your return.

Sorry Bernie, it's not tax time yet. Soon though. But thanks for wearing a face mask because they are still required throughout our building. #berniemittens #sorrynotsorry #taxseason2021 #morethanjusttaxes #letushelpyou #charteredprofessionalaccountant #cpa

If you collected CERB at anytime throughout 2020 you will receive a slip in the mail from with Canada Revenue Agency or Service Canada, depending on which agency you applied through. If you applied through Canada Revenue Agency directly then you will receive a T4A slip. If you applied for CERB through Service Canada (like applying for EI) you will receive a T4E slip. This slip NEEDS to be reported on your 2020 tax return. Failing to not report income on your tax return can result in fines from the CRA.

For Kelly's birthday last year, I got him 'season tickets' to his favourite ball team, @dodgers. Due to Covid-19, a lot of ball teams had giant cut outs in the stands of their fans, I may be biased, but this one is the best! I'm sure Kelly would love actual season tickets to his beloved 2020 World Series Champions, but this is as close as he's getting. So, if you come in, you may see "Kelly" hard at work. - Krista #charteredprofessionalaccountant #professional #cpa #letushelpyou #morethanjusttaxes #almostballseason

What's new? On January 1, 2021, your CPP contribution rate increased from 5.25% to 5.45% of your CPP pensionable earnings. You will be able to deduct your CPP enhancement contributions from your 2020 taxes. There will be no immediate effects to your CPP benefit if you retire in 2020. The increased benefits are over the long term. The amount of increase in benefits you receive will depend upon how much and for how long you contribute to the enhanced CPP....
