#Nigeria: My interview by #Thisday newspaper as published today. It covers a wide range of issues: my thoughts on the Nigerian electoral system, President Buhar...i’s suspension of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, El-Rufai’s body-bags brouhaha, integration inhibitions faced by Canadian Bar candidates of racialized background, my career achievements, etc. Happy reading!! Come celebrate with the crème de la crème this Friday, December 7, 2018, and learn a thing or two, as the Canadian Association of Nigerian Lawyers holds it 2018 Gala!

NIGERIA: Why is the police being used to enforce this apparent illegality? Why is this brazen breach of the electoral laws against buying and selling of votes being treated as a tolerable thing? Why is this apparent abuse of the electoral process being turned into a public spectacle in a manner that suggests that it is right to disburse inducement money to electorates in the first place?... Why are they dressing the purported inducement money as "campaign funds" when it was reportedly meant to be given to the electorates to influence their votes? Why do these culprits seek to continue to entrench a culture of illegality by taking this obnoxious behavior outside the polluted confines of their corrupt conclaves and bringing it into the public domain? Is this in fulfillment of the proverbial saying that those whom the gods want to destroy, they first make mad? The last time I checked, Sections 124 (1) & (2) of Nigeria's Electoral Act , 2010 clearly prohibit these transgressions!
