Here is a fantastic article about avoiding dog fights at dog parks written by local Certified Professional Dog Trainer Jennifer Berg from Oberhund Dog Services & Products published in the The Whole Dog Journal. If you enjoy taking your dog to the park and/or to interact with other dogs in general, this article is for you. https://www.whole-dog-journal.com//avoiding-fights-at-th/
Presley found that last bit of snow.
That's one hot dog! And the winner of the 4x200 m relay is Fluffy! Wait for it.... at about 1:42 in. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-RJT0DniWtM&t=3s
Perfect Coco. Now how adorable is she?
Max in fine form.
Saying hi to a lovely family of dogs who came to visit our park today. Chewie, Asher and Pepper
Be extra careful right now so your dog does not eat dead rodents while out and about. The City uses a gopher poison that can pass poison to animals and birds who eat the gophers. https://www.cjme.com//gopher-control-underway-in-regina-p/
Canine cough is still running rampant in the Regina area. Great, a dog and human contagion at the same time!! If your dog interacts with other dogs at dog parks, daycares, or just with buddies, please ask your veterinarian about a preventative vaccine. As well, if you are planning to board with us in the future, the canine cough vaccine is mandatory. It is ok to book our park without it because you are outside, and not interacting with other guests. ... https://happypetboarding.ca//effective-immediately-intrana See more

Mom didn't believe them when they told her I liked playing fetch with sticks. I really do love playing fetch with sticks.

This past year has been pretty tough on pet boarding businesses. When people stay at home, they're home with their dogs. And although we're considered to be an essential service and have been boarding for essential workers, and for people doing home renovations, and while they're ill, we have been pretty slow. We look forward to the post pandemic times where people have income and job stability, and where happy families can look forward and return to fun.... to weddings, fam...ily reunions and visiting grandparents, to hockey and soccer tournaments, to cheerleading competitions, and of course road trips and hot holidays. The Leader Post did a nice job of their story about our friends Ashley and Lonnie and us. https://leaderpost.com//pet-boarding-businesses-trying-to-
Salt learning confidence :)
Vinnie sitting pretty.
Many people think natural products are safe products, but that's often not the case. If you're into essential oils and have pets, please avoid using these oils.
Big smiles all around. Scoobs
Did you know that as provincially badged officers the Regina Humane Society investigates animal abuse under the Animal Protection Act of Saskatchewan? When you donate to RHS it's about so much more than adoptions and helping homeless animals.
We could watch Rosie play with this ball all day long. It's a shepherd thing.

How many more days until spring? And gardens, glorious gardens? If you've got yard plants, make sure that you think about toxicity to dogs and cats. Many common indoor and outdoor plants are toxic to pets - rhubarb, grapes, onions, green tomatoes and potatoes, and more. When in doubt, check your plants out with the ASPCA plant database. https://www.aspca.org//animal/toxic-and-non-toxic-plants/a
Where is that one tiny bit of kibble? Finn knows!
We hear complaints about off leash dogs all the time - frustrated dog owners who don't know what to do about neighbours who walk their dogs off leash in on-leash areas. If you're "that" person who walks their dog off leash in an on-leash area..... * Your dog might be friendly, but the person or other dog they approach might not be. Do you really want your dog to get brutally attacked? ... * The other person and dog might be working on reactivity training. Do you really want your dog to destroy all of their hard work? * If your dog playfully approaches a working service dog, they can damage that service dog to the point where the service dog can't work. Do you really want to break a service dog? If you want more off leash spaces, lobby your city politicians to create them. Animal control by-laws are in place for a reason. If you see others walking their dogs off leash in on-leash spaces, report them to Regina Humane Society so be ticketed.
Did you know that we're a best practice dog boarding kennel? We're transparent about everything we do. Here's a quick video to show you where your dog eats, sleeps, plays, and poops, and what we do to keep your furry family member healthy, happy, and safe. Happy dude, Ruger.
A tired dog is a happy dog.... well, not always. Rather than trying to tire out a highly aroused dog with exercise and fetch, what they might need is to learn how to settle, be calm, and enjoy down time. This is an excellent article that explains how to deal with hyperarousal in dogs. ... https://www.whole-dog-journal.com//training-an-over-arous/
Great news for animal welfare. One of Canada's largest veterinary corporations, with 99 veterinary hospitals, yesterday announced that they will no longer perform cosmetic surgeries including ear cropping, tail docking, removal of articulated dew claws, and debarking. Awesome!
Rosie loves spring storms.
Purchasing/adopting international dogs - it pulls on heart strings, and can import new diseases into our country that are harmful and painful for dogs, expensive for pet owners, and dangerous for other pets in the community. Before purchasing/adopting animals from out of country or province, always talk with your veterinarian!
Yes, your dog can get jealous of other dogs. And, even thinking about you with another dog can make them jealous. So be careful who you pet :) https://www.sciencealert.com/dogs-seem-to-get-jealous-of-th
O Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo? Doing dog parkour of course my love
The Regina market's best dog boarding experience. Experienced caregivers live on site. Huge, clean, comfortable indoor-outdoor suites. Heated floors/Air conditioning. Fully fenced off-leash private dog park is also available for private rental. Award-winning environmental practices and community giving. Thirty minutes from Regina. Daily canine carpool shuttle to and from Regina, White City and Emerald Park. Healthy. Happy. Safe. Since 1992. ... https://happypetboarding.ca/about

This is a very good investigative article about what should be called international puppy smuggling. Buying from these shady characters means you're supporting thugs and puppy mills with non-existent animal welfare practices, and you could be bringing novel diseases into Canada. https://www.cbc.ca//buyer-beware-ottawa-fails-to-track-tho
Lots of spunk for an old boy Kane
Love love love this ball.
This highly qualified South African animal behaviourist wrote the perfect post about dog group walks and play. "Don’t feel pressured by friends or a social group to put your dog in situations that they are not comfortable with or where they will learn behaviours that will be detrimental to their long-term behavioural health."

We love our ... generator. SaskPower had a planned outage in our area today. No problemo!! Our emergency generator kicked in and kept us going. Health and safety doesn't happen by accident. This comprehensive Pet First Aid class is excellent for every dog or cat owner, and anyone who works with animals. You can save 20% on their online class now. It's much better than most PFA classes because it covers a ton of prevention actions you can take to avoid illness and injury in the first place. We taught this program for 16 years and can't imagine running a kennel without this knowledge.

We miss our friends. We miss our family. We miss being normal busy at our kennel. We're sad for the many suffering businesses large and small - and the uncertainty it brings to their employees and their families. It has been a difficult past few months. And, we're thankful for Thanksgiving. While our lives are disrupted by Covid, we know that we live charmed lives. It's good to be reminded about how lucky we really are. We're thankful for our home with full pantries - tha...t we're not without food or shelter. We're thankful for health care. We know that if needed, we will receive care. We're thankful that we live in Canada, and that we've travelled as much as we have. As chaos spreads from Covid to radicalism we know how lucky we are that our ancestors chose Canada as their home. We are thankful to have each other. While we miss our friends and family, their laughs, and their hugs, we're content to socially isolate together. We're thankful that it's 2020, and we're still able to be connected, albeit virtually. And finally, we're thankful for science and the goodness of Saskatchewan people. We know that when it comes to this pandemic in our province, data trumps dogma. And that most people are being kind and making choices that are good for others. We're thankful for our 4-legged guests and their 2-legged humans. We look forward to moving past these crazy Covid times, where we can have fun again, but meanwhile, we have so much to be thankful for. #givingthanks #thanksgiving

Bubbles anyone? Guinness loves them. If you are going to try bubbles with your dog, make sure the soap is non-toxic, that your dog is having fun rather than getting frustrated or compulsive, and that you end play with something calm like a chewing or licking toy.... #dogsareawesome #dogsmakemehappy #boardingkennel #reginaboardingkennel #dogboarding #reginadogboarding #dogkennel #reginadogkennel #offleashdogpark #enrichment

@Petco today announced that they will stop selling shock collars. Bravo! "Electricity may be critical to powering your microwave, but it has no role for the average pet parent training their dog," Petco CEO Ron Coughlin said in a news release. "Shock collars have been shown to increase fear, anxiety and stress in dogs, and we believe there's a better way Positive Reinforcement Training." https://people.com//petco-stop-selling-electronic-shock-c/...
