DECEMBER MARKET UPDATE! Happy New Year! 2021 was a busy year! We saw the busiest real estate market in 100 years! In the Fraser Valley, we saw a new annual record for total property sales, with 27,692 MLS sales processed in 2021. This is a 39% increase in comparison to 2020 and 15.5% higher than the 23,974 sales in 2016 (the previous record). ... We also saw the second highest amount of new listings in a year recorded in 2021, with 35,629 listings, which is a 12.4% increase from 2020. As for the month of December, there were 1,808 MLS sales. By the end of the month there were only 1,957 units active. This is 60% lower than the 10-year average and is the lowest amount of inventory in 41 years. Since 2008, my family and I have supported an organization called Hope for the Island that serves the impoverished, orphaned, widowed, sick, and under-educated of the island of Siargao, Philippines. Not only do I serve on the Board of Directors for Hope for the Island Ministries, but I have also led 4 trips over to the Philippines where my teams worked alongside the Hope staff. Hope for the Island and Siargao Island were just hit by super typhoon Rai. A fundraiser has been ...created to raise funds to come alongside and serve [the] community in whatever capacity is needed. [Their] goal is to establish a purified water station and serve daily hot meals. Some will stay to facilitate this service and others will serve in town cleaning, gathering, and doing activities with children, visiting and praying for the sick. Please pray for the Philippines. The first photo is the entrance of a place called Hope for the Island, an organization that Cindy and I have been involved with for the past 15 years. Hope for the Island is located on Siargao Island in the Philippines, and was just hit by a super typhoon Rai a few days ago. In some areas, over 85% of homes are destroyed and there is no access to food or water. My family and I last visited Hope for the Island only a few years ago. It is sad to see what things look like now, however, our prayers are strong!
